• • In this Middle Office Manager (EU) role, you will be instrumental in supporting Kraken's burgeoning institutional trading and lending operations. Your primary focus will be ensuring the seamless execution of post-trade processes, encompassing settlement, reconciliation, and inventory management, specifically tailored for our European institutional clientele and counterparties.
• • You will act as a critical linchpin, collaborating closely with a diverse range of internal teams, including Trading, Institutional Sales, Risk Management, Treasury, Finance, Product Development, and Engineering. This cross-functional partnership is essential for delivering unparalleled operational excellence and maintaining institutional-grade support within your designated region.
• • Your contributions will directly impact operational continuity, accuracy, and overall efficiency across all institutional activities, solidifying Kraken's reputation as a trusted and reliable partner in the digital asset space.
• • Key responsibilities include the meticulous execution and ongoing maintenance of middle-office processes that underpin our Over-The-Counter (OTC) trading, exchange-based transactions, and lending activities. This involves ensuring the precise capture of trade data, the flawless settlement of all transactions, and the timely reconciliation of accounts for all regional institutional clients and their counterparties.
• • You will be entrusted with overseeing the entire post-trade processing lifecycle. This includes managing settlement instructions, coordinating diligently with custodians, trading venues, and external counterparties, and proactively resolving any trade breaks or exceptions that may arise. Maintaining the highest standards of data integrity across all our systems and upholding robust operational best practices will be paramount.
• • A significant aspect of your role will involve the vigilant monitoring of digital asset and fiat balances held across various custodians, trading venues, and internal wallets. This oversight will provide crucial support to the Trading and Treasury teams, enabling them to maintain optimal inventory allocation and ensure readiness for settlement.
• • You will play a vital role in supporting the implementation of established processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as defined by the global Head of Middle Office. Beyond execution, you will be encouraged to identify operational inefficiencies, propose innovative solutions, and contribute actively to the continuous enhancement of our operational infrastructure.
• • Effective cross-functional coordination is a cornerstone of this position. You will partner closely with Trading, Treasury, Risk, Product, and Engineering teams to facilitate the successful launch of new products, support infrastructure upgrades, and drive system enhancements. A key objective will be to ensure that regional requirements are thoroughly considered and integrated into global workflows.
• • To thrive in this role, you should possess a deep understanding of middle office functions and post-trade lifecycles, ideally with at least 3 years of experience in trading operations, settlements, clearing, or reconciliations within a trading firm, OTC desk, brokerage, exchange, or investment banking institution.
• • Expertise in the trade lifecycle, from trade capture and allocations through to settlements, reconciliation, and exception management, across both digital assets and traditional financial markets, is essential.
• • You must be comfortable navigating complex settlement flows, confirmation processes, coordinating with wallet custodians, and adeptly resolving breaks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• • A rigorous, detail-oriented mindset is crucial, coupled with a strong awareness of controls, inherent risks, and the paramount importance of data accuracy. The ability to strictly adhere to SOPs and consistently deliver high-quality operational execution is expected.
• • Excellent cross-functional communication skills are required to effectively coordinate with Trading, Treasury, Risk, and Product teams, alongside strong problem-solving capabilities.
• • An institutional mindset is key, demonstrating experience supporting institutional clients or counterparties and the capacity to handle urgency, complexity, and precision in post-trade workflows.
• • We are looking for individuals who are comfortable operating in both crypto-native and traditional finance environments, possessing a genuine passion for digital assets and a drive for operational innovation. A crypto-friendly yet TradFi-ready approach will serve you well.
• • While not strictly required, experience with OTC crypto trading or custodial settlement platforms would be highly advantageous. Familiarity with wallet operations, blockchain settlement intricacies, or custody solutions would further strengthen your candidacy. Exposure to prime brokerage, securities settlement, or collateral management, along with knowledge of post-trade automation or reconciliation tools, are also considered valuable.
