- • **Shape the Future of Maritime Autonomy:** Havoc AI is at the forefront of collaborative autonomy, pioneering solutions for large-scale autonomous surface vessels in defense and commercial maritime sectors. We are seeking a highly motivated Mission Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in bringing our cutting-edge autonomy systems to life on complex maritime platforms. This is a unique opportunity to work at the critical intersection of advanced autonomy, maritime standards, robust vessel hardware, and demanding real-world operations, ensuring our systems perform reliably in challenging environments.
- • **End-to-End Mission Ownership:** As a Mission Software Engineer, you will take full ownership of software solutions deployed to our large vessel customers. This extends beyond initial deployment to encompass the entire lifecycle of the software, ensuring high-reliability systems that are meticulously aligned with mission objectives. You will be the go-to expert for the software running on these critical platforms, guaranteeing its performance and effectiveness in diverse operational scenarios.
- • **Seamless Autonomy Integration:** A core aspect of this role involves the intricate integration and deployment of our sophisticated autonomy software onto large maritime platforms. You will collaborate closely with platform engineering teams to ensure our capabilities can be scaled effectively across an entire fleet. This requires a deep understanding of how to adapt autonomy systems to the unique constraints, interfaces, and operational nuances of different vessels, ensuring a tailored and optimized experience.
- • **Mastering Maritime Communications & Standards:** You will be responsible for developing and maintaining critical interfaces that adhere to established maritime communication protocols. This includes working with standards such as NMEA, CAN, MQTT, and UMAA, ensuring seamless and compliant data exchange across various vessel subsystems and external command networks. Your work will be crucial in enabling effective communication and data flow within the complex ecosystem of a modern vessel.
- • **Driving Cross-Functional Engineering Excellence:** This role demands strong collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines. You will partner closely with autonomy, hardware, and mission engineering teams to plan, build, and rigorously test complex shipboard integrations. Your ability to bridge the gap between different engineering domains will be key to successful project delivery and operational readiness.
- • **Ensuring Monitoring & Unwavering Reliability:** Designing and implementing robust monitoring, logging, and debugging frameworks is essential for maintaining the high standards of reliability required for maritime operations. You will develop key performance metrics to continuously assess and ensure the dependable operation of our autonomy systems at sea, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact missions.
- • **Expert Troubleshooting & Field Support:** When issues arise in live vessel deployments, you will be at the forefront of diagnosing and resolving them. This involves coordinating complex resolution efforts across internal engineering teams and external customer stakeholders, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and maintaining customer trust.
- • **Bridging Operator Needs and Technical Realities:** A significant part of your role will involve translating real-world vessel operational needs and challenges into tangible software features and improvements. You will act as a crucial liaison, balancing the user experience and functional requirements of operators with the technical realities and constraints inherent in shipboard environments.
- • **Championing Deployment Readiness:** You will actively support shipboard and at-sea deployments, ensuring that our software is not only developed but also thoroughly tested and ready for mission-critical operations. This hands-on involvement provides invaluable feedback for continuous improvement and reinforces the reliability of our systems.
- • **Impactful Real-World Application:** This position offers the unparalleled opportunity to see your code tested, proven, and making a tangible impact in dynamic, real-world maritime environments where reliability, safety, and precision are not just desired, but absolutely paramount. You will be instrumental in defining how large autonomous maritime systems integrate into existing and future fleets, fundamentally shaping the future of maritime autonomy and contributing to critical defense and commercial missions.
