📋 Description

• As a Mobile Platform Developer at Tailscale Inc., you will contribute to building the new Internet by developing secure, easy-to-use software that interconnects people and devices across the globe. Your work will directly impact how users protect their networks and access internal tools, supporting Tailscale’s mission to create a safer, more sensible Internet for everyone—from hobbyists to multinational corporations.
• Day to day, you will develop and maintain client code for iOS and Android platforms using Swift, SwiftUI, and Kotlin, while also contributing to shared codebases in Go that support macOS, Windows, and other core platforms. You will write and maintain unit and integration tests, ensure cross-target code sharing, and implement features that leverage the latest Apple and Android platform capabilities while maintaining compatibility with older systems.
• You will join a fully remote, early-stage engineering team backed by top-tier investors including Accel, CRV, Insight, Heavybit, and Uncork Capital. Tailscale fosters a collaborative, asynchronous work culture where technical excellence, initiative, and clear communication are valued. The team is distributed across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, with a strong emphasis on inclusivity and intentional connection.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in mobile VPN infrastructure, modern mobile development practices, and cross-platform code sharing. You’ll have the opportunity to influence product direction, grow your skills in Go and networking concepts (DNS, IP routing, VPNs), and advance your career through $1,500 annual professional development support, mentorship, and internal mobility opportunities.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software development
• Proficiency in Swift, SwiftUI, and/or Kotlin
• Experience with general networking concepts such as DNS, VPNs, IP Networking, and routing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and give/receive constructive feedback
• Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup environment
