Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Multi-State Licensed General Contractor at Flock Safety, you will serve as a legally qualifying agent and construction subject matter expert, enabling the company to self-perform complex installations previously outsourced, directly reducing deployment costs, improving quality, and accelerating project timelines across key U.S. markets.
  • • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include assessing current third-party GC usage to identify opportunities for in-house self-performance, initiating license applications or reciprocity in priority states (Arkansas, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah, West Virginia), reviewing and signing permit applications to unblock high-priority projects, establishing standardized permitting and documentation protocols, directing safety compliance for internal construction crews, traveling as needed to onboard and quality-check installation teams, and advising Legal, Field Operations, and Strategy on licensing strategy for new market expansions.
  • • You will partner closely with Legal, Field Operations, and Strategy teams to build a scalable internal construction framework that supports Flock’s nationwide growth, ensuring compliance with the International Building Code (IBC) and local amendments related to structural foundations, wind load calculations, and right-of-way work.
  • • In this role, you will develop deep expertise in navigating complex state and local permitting environments, drive measurable cost savings by shifting work from vendors to internal teams, and become a trusted advisor on construction compliance and risk mitigation across Flock’s expanding operational footprint.
  • • Over your first 90 days, you will assess third-party GC utilization, begin licensing processes in priority states, start signing permits to keep projects on track, finalize key state licenses, establish clear usage guidelines for your license and signature, act as primary signatory for permits in licensed markets, and ultimately shift a meaningful portion of eligible work to internal teams with quantifiable cost and schedule benefits.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Active General Contractor License: Must hold an active commercial General Contractor license (or equivalent unlimited builder classification) in at least one U.S. state.
  • • Qualifying Agent Status: Must be willing and able to act as the legally qualifying individual (QI/QA) for Flock Safety on state and local licenses to enable self-performance of work.
  • • Construction Code Expertise: Deep working knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC) and local amendments, specifically regarding structural foundations, wind load calculations, and right-of-way construction.
  • • Permitting Strategy: Ability to work with Permitting Teams to determine the proper path to permitting given varying state and local zoning and construction requirements.
  • • Safety & Compliance: Experience directing safety programs for construction/civil work and ensuring proper precautions are followed by internal crews.
  • • Travel: Ability to travel as needed to onboard, train, and quality-check installation teams.
