- • Design, implement, and maintain scalable observability solutions for Deel’s cloud-native SaaS platform across global environments
- • Own monitoring and observability for AWS and Kubernetes (EKS) environments, covering clusters, workloads, and underlying infrastructure
- • Operate and maintain self-hosted monitoring stacks including Prometheus, Grafana, Mimir, Loki, and Tempo
- • Manage and optimize DataDog usage for metrics, logs, APM, alerts, and cost monitoring across the organization
- • Improve observability architecture to support high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance for systems serving millions of users
- • Implement and enforce monitoring cost optimization strategies such as log and trace sampling, retention policy tuning, and storage efficiency improvements
- • Automate observability infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform and Helm
- • Integrate monitoring, alerting, and SLO/SLI tracking into CI/CD pipelines, with familiarity with GitHub Actions as an advantage
- • Support capacity planning and performance tuning initiatives by analyzing system metrics and identifying bottlenecks
- • Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and Engineering teams to embed observability best practices into development lifecycles
- • Drive continuous improvement of monitoring standards, tooling, and reliability practices across engineering teams
- • Ensure all observability systems align with global compliance and operational requirements across 150+ countries
- • Maintain visibility into system performance and reliability to enable rapid detection, diagnosis, and resolution of production incidents
- • Contribute to the evolution of Deel’s observability roadmap in alignment with business growth and technical scaling needs
- • Document observability configurations, runbooks, and incident response procedures to ensure team-wide knowledge sharing and operational resilience
- • Participate in on-call rotations to respond to critical system alerts and ensure 24/7 system reliability
- • Evaluate emerging observability tools and technologies to enhance platform resilience and reduce operational overhead
- • Work with cross-functional teams to translate business SLAs into technical SLOs and actionable alerting policies
- • Advocate for proactive monitoring over reactive troubleshooting by promoting predictive analytics and anomaly detection
- • Maintain strict governance over observability data access, storage, and retention to meet privacy and compliance standards
- • Translate complex system behaviors into clear dashboards and reports for engineering and leadership stakeholders
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of hands-on experience in monitoring/observability engineering within cloud-native environments
- • Strong experience with AWS services and Kubernetes (EKS), including metrics, logs, traces, alerting, SLOs, SLIs, and dashboards
- • Proven experience operating and maintaining self-hosted monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Mimir, Loki, Tempo)
- • Experience with DataDog (metrics, logs, APM, alerts, cost monitoring)
- • Proficiency in automating observability infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm)
- • Experience integrating monitoring into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions is an advantage)
