📋 Description
- • Serve as the first point of contact for patients entering Mercy Health facilities, ensuring a compassionate and professional experience aligned with Mercy’s mission and Service Standards.
- • Facilitate all aspects of patient registration, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance benefits, obtaining pre-certifications, and completing financial clearance processes.
- • Accurately collect, verify, and populate patient demographic and insurance information into electronic health records, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and accreditation guidelines.
- • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medicare guidelines, insurance carrier policies, and regulatory requirements affecting patient access and billing.
- • Perform pre-visit collections and financial counseling to ensure timely and accurate patient payments while maintaining sensitivity to patient circumstances.
- • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, clinical staff, non-clinical staff, and insurance representatives via phone and other channels, demonstrating excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
- • Utilize multiple computer systems and software platforms to manage patient data, process transactions, and generate reports with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- • Operate a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard efficiently to complete daily tasks including data entry, billing, and record updates.
- • Manage high-volume workloads under pressure, consistently meeting deadlines while maintaining precision in documentation and financial processing.
- • Establish and sustain positive working relationships across departments and with external entities to ensure seamless patient access and operational efficiency.
- • Adhere to all Mercy Health policies, confidentiality standards, and compliance protocols in handling sensitive patient information.
- • Perform duties requiring prolonged standing and walking during shifts, as well as the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing workflows, system updates, and evolving regulatory requirements in healthcare access operations.
- • Participate in ongoing training to maintain competency in medical terminology, insurance coding, and patient access procedures.
- • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by actively supporting colleagues and promoting a culture of compassion, integrity, and excellence in patient care.
