- • The Performance Modeling Engineer role at OpenAI focuses on developing and applying performance modeling tools to evaluate AI system performance and inform architectural decisions for advanced AI workloads.
- • Day to day, the engineer will build and maintain modeling frameworks, run simulations and analytical models across compute, memory, networking, and storage subsystems, analyze outputs to quantify tradeoffs, validate models against real system measurements, and collaborate with architects and the Performance Modeling Lead to guide infrastructure design decisions.
- • The Hardware organization at OpenAI works closely with architecture, infrastructure, and vendor teams to evaluate system performance and guide critical design decisions for AI workloads, with a mission to build safe and beneficial artificial intelligence.
- • In this role, the engineer will deepen expertise in system architecture and AI infrastructure, gain hands-on experience with performance modeling frameworks, and contribute to shaping next-generation hardware and software co-design for large-scale AI systems.
