📋 Description

• Develop and maintain robust, scalable software solutions using modern PHP 8.1+ for fintech and lending products within a fast-growing African fintech platform.
• Design and implement features using object-oriented design principles and established software architecture patterns to ensure long-term maintainability and performance.
• Write comprehensive unit tests using PHPUnit to guarantee code quality, stability, and reliability across core financial systems.
• Participate in end-to-end development workflows including containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes (K8s) in a CI/CD environment.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams using Atlassian Jira for sprint planning, task tracking, and documentation of development progress.
• Work within a secure, high-stakes fintech domain requiring strict adherence to financial software standards, data integrity, and regulatory-aware design practices.
• Optimize application performance by writing efficient PHP code and leveraging modern PHP frameworks, specifically Symfony or Zend (Laminas).
• Utilize Git for version control and manage code repositories with best practices for branching, merging, and code reviews.
• Apply basic terminal and command-line skills to manage development environments, run scripts, and troubleshoot deployment issues.
• Ensure all code and communication are conducted in English, with clear documentation and collaboration across distributed technical teams.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes by identifying bottlenecks, proposing architectural enhancements, and supporting team-wide adoption of DevOps practices.
• Engage with complex financial logic related to vehicle financing, microfinance, and smartphone lending, translating business requirements into secure, scalable technical solutions.
• Maintain awareness of security best practices specific to financial technology, including data encryption, authentication flows, and transaction integrity.
• Work in a collaborative, agile environment where clear communication, proactive problem-solving, and ownership of code quality are essential.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of professional working experience as a PHP developer
• Strong, hands-on experience with PHP 8.1 or higher
• Solid experience with at least one major PHP framework: Symfony or Zend (Laminas)
• Prior experience developing software for fintech, lending companies, or a highly similar domain
• Proven experience writing unit tests using PHPUnit
• Proficiency with Git, basic command line usage, and Atlassian Jira
• Good object-oriented design skills and understanding of software architecture patterns
• Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes (K8s)
• Proficiency in English, both verbal and written
