📋 Description

• As a Platform Engineer on the Core Platform team at Top Hat Monocle Inc., you will play a pivotal role in enhancing software delivery performance and system availability by advancing DevOps culture, tools, and practices across the engineering organization. Your work will have a multiplicative impact, enabling teams to deliver value more reliably and efficiently while fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• You will design, build, and operate platform-level shared services including continuous integration and deployment pipelines, infrastructure automation via Terraform, and scalable observability systems using tools like Honeycomb. You will extend reusable service templates and CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions) to standardize and streamline software delivery across teams.
• You will lead efforts to mature the company’s cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities on AWS, ensuring scalability, resilience, and alignment with business growth. This includes evolving patterns for service ownership, enabling teams to operate their services in production with confidence.
• You will coach product teams in adopting DevOps principles, including end-to-end production ownership, blameless postmortems, and SLO-driven reliability practices. Your mentorship will help developers internalize operational best practices, improve incident response, and build systems that are both observable and operable.
• You will support the on-call rotation and participate in incident response, contributing to a culture of shared responsibility and continuous learning. You will also mentor junior engineers and new team members, guiding them through domain knowledge, team routines, and engineering best practices with empathy and clarity.
• Through your contributions, you will help establish reusable architectural patterns and governance guidelines that reduce cognitive load, increase deployment frequency, and improve mean time to recovery. Your work will directly influence how quickly and safely Top Hat can innovate and deliver value to educators and learners.
• You will grow your expertise in modern platform engineering, cloud-native architectures, and DevOps transformation at scale. 🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience with DevOps practices and principles, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability.
• Hands-on expertise with AWS, Terraform, Docker, and GitHub Actions for building and maintaining cloud infrastructure and pipelines.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, with Python preferred due to its widespread use in platform tooling and automation.
