- • Own the design, evolution, and governance of Stack AI’s public API and SDKs that serve as the primary interface for developers building on the platform.
- • Define and enforce API standards including versioning policies, deprecation practices, and consistency across all platform services to ensure predictable developer experiences.
- • Build end-to-end tracing and instrumentation systems to make multi-step, multi-model agent runs observable, enabling users to follow each execution across models, tools, and sub-agents.
- • Develop analytics and reporting tools that translate raw agent usage data into actionable insights for customers, including performance metrics, cost breakdowns, and improvement recommendations.
- • Design and implement audit logging systems with team-scoped views to meet enterprise compliance and security requirements.
- • Ensure the API and observability layers are scalable, reliable, and performant under production loads from a growing ecosystem of external integrations.
- • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align API features with customer workflows and platform goals, prioritizing developer experience in every design decision.
- • Maintain and improve API documentation, SDK ergonomics, and rate-limiting mechanisms to reduce friction for external developers integrating with Stack AI.
- • Turn raw telemetry signals from agent executions into structured data products that customers rely on for monitoring, optimization, and decision-making.
- • Contribute to platform-wide initiatives around reliability, security, and observability, ensuring the infrastructure supports autonomous AI workflows at scale.
- • Work across backend systems in Python (FastAPI or similar) and product surfaces using TypeScript/Node.js to deliver cohesive API and analytics experiences.
- • Iterate rapidly on feedback from internal teams and external developers to refine API contracts and observability dashboards based on real-world usage patterns.
- • Balance long-term architectural integrity with the need for fast iteration in a high-growth startup environment where platform features directly impact customer success.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years building backend services and public APIs in production.
- • Strong API craft: RESTful design, SDK ergonomics, and rate limiting.
- • Fluency with OpenAPI for defining API standards, versioning, deprecation, and cross-service consistency.
- • Experience with observability and analytics: distributed tracing, metrics, and turning raw signals into reliable data products.
- • Strong in Python and modern backend frameworks (FastAPI or similar); comfortable with TypeScript/Node.js on product surfaces.
