• • In this pivotal role within Platform Infrastructure Engineering, you will be instrumental in building and operating Menlo Security's core infrastructure platform. You will collaborate closely with other engineering teams to ensure our customers can connect to the internet with unparalleled security and without compromise. Our sophisticated, cloud-native environment operates globally, designed with the expectation of failure, built with security as a fundamental principle, engineered for evolvability, and optimized for multi-tenancy.
• • Automation is not just a goal; it's an absolute necessity for us. We are committed to executing tasks correctly and efficiently from the outset. You will be part of a team of experienced engineers responsible for the company's foundational infrastructure services and the continuous growth of our platform. This includes managing a complex cloud-native infrastructure built on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and virtual machines (VMs) across multiple global environments, from development to production.
• • You will leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Terraform and Spacelift for orchestration, deploying services via Helm charts. Our platform's design prioritizes security-first principles, comprehensive observability, and multi-region resilience. Success in this role hinges on your ability to work with a vast VM fleet in both AWS and GCP, master the art of writing effective IaC, and demonstrate a genuine passion for automation and reliability engineering.
• • Your responsibilities will encompass the end-to-end lifecycle of our infrastructure. You will design, deploy, and maintain both VM and Kubernetes infrastructure on GCP and AWS, managing dozens of clusters across development, staging, and production environments distributed globally. Effective collaboration with peers within your immediate team and across other engineering departments will be crucial to ensure that your work directly addresses our most pressing challenges.
• • You will be responsible for building and maintaining our IaC framework using Terraform modules, managing cloud resources through Spacelift or similar Terraform Automation and Collaboration Software (TACOS). This includes provisioning essential cloud infrastructure components such as networking, compute, storage, and security services, with a primary focus on GCP and secondary support for AWS.
• • Implementing and managing sophisticated multi-layer configuration management workflows will be a key aspect of your role. Furthermore, you will build and maintain our comprehensive observability solutions utilizing Grafana Cloud, Prometheus Mimir, and OpenTelemetry (OTel) collectors. This involves designing insightful Grafana dashboards, configuring precise alerting rules, and ensuring deep visibility across all platform components.
• • You will also manage critical operational aspects like certificate lifecycle, DNS automation, ingress controllers, and service mesh networking, particularly with Cilium. A significant part of your role will involve partnering closely with our Engineering, Product, Compliance, and Security teams to architect and implement resilient, scalable systems. You will provide expert consultation on capacity planning, disaster recovery strategies, and architectural decisions for our cloud-native applications.
• • A core tenet of this role is the relentless pursuit of eliminating toil through automation. You will actively write scripts, develop custom tools, and build robust CI/CD pipelines to enhance operational efficiency and minimize manual intervention. As part of a globally distributed team, you will participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, requiring prompt response to incidents and diligent follow-through on post-incident reviews to drive continuous improvement.
