Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join the UK’s leading Revenues & Benefits team as a Presales Consultant and become the go-to authority for NEC’s Council Tax, Non-Domestic Rates (NDR) and Citizen Access solutions. You will sit at the intersection of sales, product and consultancy, turning complex local-government requirements into compelling, future-proof solutions that win multi-million-pound contracts.
- • Own the end-to-end presales cycle: from the moment an opportunity is qualified you will shape the win strategy, craft tailored RFP responses, configure demonstration environments and deliver persuasive presentations to senior officers, councillors and digital leaders. Your demos will range from 15-minute executive overviews to half-day deep dives that prove compliance with statute, integration with central-government gateways and citizen self-service adoption.
- • Maintain and evolve our pre-sales data sets for every quarterly software release. You will script realistic council-tax, BID and business-rates scenarios, inject new legislative changes (e.g., COVID reliefs, 100% business rates retention pilots) and ensure every new feature is showcased within 48 hours of code freeze. This keeps the sales team armed with the freshest, regulation-compliant stories.
- • Translate customer pain points into solution blueprints. Whether a metropolitan borough needs to recover £50 m in arrears or a unitary authority wants to shift 80 % of contact to digital, you will map NEC modules—CTAX, NDR, BIDs, Enforcement, Revenues & Benefits CRM, Citizen Access Portal, Mobile Workforce—to measurable outcomes and build ROI models that withstand public-sector scrutiny.
- • Act as the bridge between market demand and product direction. By feeding real-time insight from councils, combined authorities and central government into the product roadmap, you will influence sprint priorities, legislative updates and integration patterns (e.g., GOV.UK Notify, Verify, DfT Street Manager). Your voice ensures NEC stays two steps ahead of policy and technology shifts.
- • Build and nurture relationships that extend beyond the signature. Post-sale, you will remain the trusted advisor, turning early adopters into reference sites and co-authoring case studies that accelerate future deals. You will also represent NEC at industry events such as the IRRV Annual Conference, Local Government ICT Summit and SOCITM webinars, positioning yourself and the company as thought leaders.
- • Collaborate daily with a high-performing, fully remote team across sales, bid management, solution architecture and delivery. You will use MS Teams, Miro and Azure DevOps to share knowledge, peer-review proposals and continuously raise the bar on demonstration excellence. Expect fortnightly virtual hack-days where we stress-test new functionality against edge-case scenarios.
- • Champion continuous learning. You will maintain your IRRV Tech/CPFA accreditation, complete NEC product certification on each release and share micro-learning sessions with colleagues. Your curiosity about emerging tech—RPA for processing reliefs, AI-driven fraud detection, open-data APIs—will keep our value proposition fresh and differentiated.
- • Measure success through tangible metrics: win-rate uplift, demonstration NPS > 90, average deal size growth and reduction in time-to-produce tailored content. Your impact will be visible in council chamber approvals, ministerial endorsements and the digital transformation stories that hit the local press.
