- • Lead the end-to-end development and tape-out of custom Analog/Mixed-Signal (AMS) ASICs for co-integration with large-scale photonic integrated circuits in next-generation free-space optical communication systems.
- • Own the top-level ASIC architecture, including system-level optimization, power delivery, signal integrity, and integration with photonic components.
- • Directly contribute to the design and layout of high-precision AMS circuits such as ADCs, DACs, bandgap references, voltage regulators, and amplifiers for mixed-signal SoCs.
- • Design and implement high-speed wireline circuits for silicon photonics interfaces, including modulator drivers and transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs) operating at tens of GHz.
- • Perform electromagnetic design of high-frequency passive elements including transmission lines and inductors for broadband optical communication links.
- • Lead and coordinate a small team of ASIC design and layout engineers to deliver ASIC dies on schedule with rigorous quality standards.
- • Execute full ASIC verification flows including Design Rule Checks (DRC), Layout Versus Schematic (LVS), Power Integrity (PI), and Signal Integrity (SI) analysis.
- • Drive multiple successful ASIC tape-outs at leading commercial foundries using modern CMOS technologies.
- • Collaborate on product strategy and roadmap by translating system requirements into ASIC specifications and performance targets.
- • Advance prototypes from initial design through final production, ensuring manufacturability and reliability in real-world deployment environments.
- • Work within a small, dynamic R&D team focused on pioneering high-throughput, long-range wireless optical communication to bridge the global digital divide.
- • Communicate technical progress and challenges effectively to senior internal and external partners through clear presentations and documentation.
- • Participate in cross-functional engineering efforts integrating ASICs with photonic ICs, optical systems, and firmware for end-to-end system validation.
🎯 Requirements
- • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- • 10 or more years of industry experience in analog/mixed-signal circuit design and implementation using modern CMOS technologies
- • Demonstrated expertise in either high-precision AMS circuits (ADCs, DACs, references, regulators) or high-speed silicon photonics interface circuits (TIAs, modulator drivers, broadband serial links)
- • Proven experience owning top-level ASIC architecture and leading multiple ASIC tape-outs at commercial foundries
- • Hands-on experience with DRC, LVS, PI, and SI verification flows
- • Experience coordinating teams of ASIC design and layout engineers

- • Salary range of $258,000 - $294,000 (inclusive of bonus at target)
