📋 Description

• • Design and lead the development of a scalable, reusable semantic layer that ensures consistent, trusted metrics and dimensions across BI tools, data science workflows, and AI systems at Zillow Group.
• • Model internal and third-party data to accurately reflect Zillow’s customer journey and core business processes, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
• • Drive cross-organizational data initiatives aligned with company strategy and roadmap planning, ensuring alignment between business units on key performance indicators and data definitions.
• • Establish and enforce data governance standards and metric definitions across finance, sales, operations, engineering, and product teams to eliminate ambiguity and improve data reliability.
• • Influence build-versus-buy decisions for analytics tooling, semantic layer platforms, and data governance systems, evaluating technologies like dbt, Databricks, and Snowflake at an organizational scale.
• • Mentor senior analytics engineers and shape technical standards, best practices, and career development pathways for the analytics engineering function across Zillow.
• • Partner directly with executive stakeholders to define how Zillow’s data infrastructure must evolve to support AI-powered analytics and long-term business objectives.
• • Ensure high availability of data and reporting systems by implementing quality alerting mechanisms, proactively detecting data issues before they impact users, and resolving them with urgency.
• • Operate within SLA requirements for production-grade reporting, maintaining accuracy and timeliness of metrics delivered daily to internal and external customers.
• • Translate complex business needs into technical data architectures that support both current analytics demands and future AI and conversational analytics capabilities.
• • Collaborate with engineering, product, and business leaders to align data infrastructure investments with company-wide goals and innovation priorities.
• • Promote metrics-as-code patterns and standardized data modeling practices to improve reproducibility, auditability, and scalability of analytics outputs.
• • Maintain deep understanding of Zillow’s business model, customer behavior, and marketplace dynamics to identify opportunities for process simplification and metric optimization.
• • Lead the adoption of modern analytics engineering tooling and frameworks to enhance team productivity and data quality across distributed teams.
• • Act as a technical authority and trusted advisor on data architecture, semantic layer design, and data governance for senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
