Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead the technical direction for signal processing and machine learning model development on CoMind One, defining architectures, methodologies, and evaluation frameworks that establish team standards for clinical signal extraction.
- • Personally drive the development and validation of the most complex data science components, from novel algorithm design through to evidence generation required for regulatory submissions for software as a medical device.
- • Serve as the primary technical reviewer and expert resource across the data science team, ensuring methodological rigor, reproducibility, and scientific integrity in all modeling and analysis workflows.
- • Design and execute data collection and labeling strategies in close collaboration with Clinical teams, including defining ground truth, governing datasets, and establishing performance benchmarks for clinical validity.
- • Contribute to CoMind’s intellectual property and scientific publication strategy by authoring and reviewing technical papers, patent applications, and regulatory documentation for medical device approval.
- • Represent the data science function in cross-functional technical forums, architecture reviews, and external engagements with clinicians, regulators, and scientific communities.
- • Identify, evaluate, and introduce new methods, tools, and AI-driven approaches that advance CoMind’s capabilities in extracting clinically meaningful measurements from optical interference signals.
- • Ensure all data science work aligns with regulatory requirements for medical devices, including validation, documentation, and traceability standards for AI/ML-based diagnostics.
- • Work closely with R&D, Clinical, and Software Engineering teams to translate physiological signals into continuous, real-time measurements of cerebral blood flow, intracranial pressure, and autoregulation.
- • Embrace AI as a core part of daily work, continuously integrating and innovating with AI tools to enhance research efficiency, model development, and collaborative workflows.
- • Maintain technical leadership as a senior individual contributor without direct people management responsibilities, shaping team direction through expertise and influence.
- • Work at least four days per week from CoMind’s Kings Cross office in London, with one flexible day of remote work per week.
- • Participate in daily lab and clinical data workflows involving noisy, real-world physiological signals from non-invasive neuromonitoring devices.
- • Contribute to the end-to-end lifecycle of ML models—from research and prototyping to production deployment and regulatory compliance.
- • Collaborate on defining clinical use cases and performance thresholds that align algorithmic outputs with actionable clinical insights.
- • Ensure all modeling practices meet the highest standards of scientific reproducibility and transparency required for medical device certification.
- • Engage with external scientific and regulatory bodies to support CoMind’s position as a leader in neuromonitoring innovation.
🎯 Requirements
- • 15+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied research with a proven track record of independent technical leadership on complex, ambiguous problems
- • Deep expertise in time-series signal processing and physiological or biomedical machine learning, including hands-on development and validation of models on noisy, real-world physiological data
- • Demonstrated ability to take algorithmic work from research through to production-quality, validated implementation in regulated environments
- • Experience in a regulated industry such as medical devices, diagnostics, or pharma, with familiarity with algorithm validation and documentation requirements for software as a medical device
- • Strong record of scientific output including publications, patents, or equivalent evidence of original technical contribution and domain authority
🏖️ Benefits
- • Company equity plan so all employees share in the success of the company
- • Salary-sacrifice pension scheme
- • Private medical, dental and vision insurance (medical history disregarded)
- • Group life assurance at 4x annual income
- • Comprehensive mental health support, including unlimited access to 1:1 sessions with trained professionals
- • Unlimited holiday allowance (+ bank holidays) and one week of remote working per quarter
- • Lunch voucher (£10) every day for JustEat and free dinner on days requiring late work
- • Twice weekly deliveries of fresh fruit and an extensive selection of snacks and drinks
- • YuLife subscription to turn daily steps and meditation into discounts at retail stores
- • Access to Udemy for upskilling and professional development
