  • • As a Principal Engineer - AI at Weekday 1, you will define and lead the long-term technical strategy and architecture for all GenAI and LLM platforms and services, playing a pivotal role in shaping the company’s AI-driven future in the fashion and apparel industry.
  • • You will act as the principal reviewer and decision-maker for all critical architectural choices concerning model deployment, scalability, and performance enhancement, ensuring robust, efficient, and future-proof AI systems.
  • • Your day-to-day responsibilities include developing and implementing best practices for research, fine-tuning, and cost-effective deployment of open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) and other generative AI models, directly impacting model quality and operational efficiency.
  • • You will tackle and resolve the most challenging engineering problems related to high-throughput, low-latency, and cost-optimized LLM inference within a global production setting, requiring deep expertise in distributed systems and AI optimization.
  • • You will provide in-depth technical mentorship and guidance to senior and staff engineers, amplifying technical excellence and fostering a culture of innovation across multiple engineering teams.
  • • You will drive continuous, groundbreaking innovation in applying GenAI to fashion and apparel data, enabling new product capabilities such as personalized recommendations, trend forecasting, and generative design.
  • • You will collaborate closely with product teams and other departments to shape the comprehensive roadmap for AI-driven capabilities, aligning technical execution with business goals and customer needs.
  • • You will work in a remote-first environment with a forward-thinking company that values technical depth, innovation, and impact, offering the autonomy to influence AI strategy at the highest level.
  • • In this role, you will achieve mastery in scaling generative AI systems in production, gain influence over enterprise-wide AI direction, and leave a lasting technical legacy by building foundational AI infrastructure that powers next-generation fashion tech.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering, with deep expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs), generative AI, and model deployment at scale.
  • • Proven ability to define and execute long-term technical strategy for AI platforms, including architecture decisions around model serving, inference optimization, and system scalability.
  • • Strong background in fine-tuning, researching, and deploying open-source LLMs in cost-effective, high-throughput production environments.
  • • Demonstrated experience mentoring senior engineers and driving technical excellence across teams.
  • • Expertise in solving complex engineering challenges related to low-latency, high-throughput LLM inference in global, distributed systems.
  • • Passion for applying AI to domain-specific problems, particularly in fashion, apparel, or consumer data contexts.
