đź“‹ Description
- • As a Principal Engineer at TuxCare, you will be at the forefront of developing and owning the automation tools that power our Endless Lifecycle Support (ELS) product. This is a unique opportunity to blend deep technical expertise with product vision, driving the strategy and execution for critical patch-processing infrastructure.
- • You will be responsible for writing high-quality, production-ready Python code, developing services, command-line interfaces (CLIs), and sophisticated automation scripts that are essential for maintaining the security and integrity of end-of-life Linux distributions and open-source software.
- • A core part of your role will involve building and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, ensuring efficient and reliable deployment of your solutions. This includes managing runners, optimizing pipeline configurations, and fostering a culture of continuous integration and delivery.
- • You will be empowered to prototype new ideas rapidly, transforming successful experiments into production-grade features that enhance our automation capabilities and address evolving security challenges.
- • A significant focus will be placed on improving the reliability and operability of our systems. This involves implementing comprehensive logging, defining key metrics, setting up effective monitoring, and establishing alerting mechanisms to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution.
- • In line with modern development practices, you will actively leverage AI-assisted development tools on a daily basis. This includes using these tools to accelerate coding, streamline refactoring, expedite debugging processes, and enhance test coverage, while critically validating all AI-generated outputs to ensure they meet stringent production-quality standards and identify potential edge cases.
- • As a Product Owner for ELS Automation tools, you will define and champion the vision and roadmap. This involves a strategic approach to prioritization, balancing the impact of new features against associated risks and development effort.
- • You will translate complex business needs and technical requirements into actionable deliverables, including detailed project plans, well-defined user stories, clear acceptance criteria, and measurable success metrics.
- • Acting as the primary interface for stakeholders, you will foster alignment across engineering, release management, and operations teams. This requires excellent communication skills to articulate requirements, manage expectations, and negotiate trade-offs effectively.
- • You will drive tangible outcomes by taking ownership of incidents when they arise, leading thorough post-mortems to identify root causes, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives based on lessons learned.
- • This role offers the chance to work on challenging and interesting projects within a dynamic and fast-paced environment, contributing directly to the security and longevity of critical open-source software used by enterprise organizations worldwide.
- • You will be instrumental in ensuring that TuxCare's ELS product remains a leading solution, providing essential security patches and support for software that would otherwise be unsupported, thereby mitigating significant risks for our clients.
- • The position demands a proactive and self-driven individual who can thrive in a startup-like atmosphere, taking end-to-end responsibility for the tools and services they develop.
- • Your contributions will directly impact the operational efficiency and security posture of numerous enterprise clients relying on TuxCare's expertise.

- • Proven expertise in GitLab CI/GitHub workflows, including hands-on experience with runners, pipelines, and best practices.
- • Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals, including shell scripting, process management, networking concepts, and package management systems.
- • Demonstrated comfort and experience with observability tools and practices, such as logging, metrics collection, monitoring, and alerting.
- • Advanced proficiency in utilizing LLM/AI tools to accelerate coding, refactoring, debugging, and testing, with a proven ability to validate AI outputs for production quality.
- • A strong product ownership mindset, capable of owning a tool end-to-end, developing and prioritizing a roadmap, and translating ambiguous requirements into concrete deliverables.
- • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-changing, high-ambiguity environment, with the ability to iterate quickly and adjust priorities as needed.
- • Prior experience in a startup environment or a "builder" role, having shipped personal projects or worked with end-to-end responsibility in a similar setting.
- • Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- • Nice to have: Experience with CVE/CVSS, vulnerability management, or backporting security patches.
- • Nice to have: Familiarity with RPM/DEB packaging or package management ecosystems like Maven, pip, or Go modules.
