ďż˝ Description

  • • Own the end-to-end enterprise vision for one or more core business domains at a company serving 30,000+ provider organizations and millions of patients—your blueprints will determine how clinicians, payers, and patients experience care for the next decade.
  • • Guide strategic decisions across business, data, application, and technology layers—from application-portfolio rationalization to pioneering agentic AI that automates and elevates care delivery—ensuring every investment maps to measurable clinical and financial outcomes.
  • • Sit on the Architecture Review Board and directly influence cloud and security strategies, approving (or rejecting) multi-million-dollar initiatives while mentoring a guild of 50+ architects on patterns for zero-trust, FHIR-native, event-driven ecosystems.
  • • Partner with business leaders to turn capability models into scalable, secure, AI-enhanced solutions; facilitate quarterly “from napkin to roadmap” workshops that convert vague growth goals into sequenced epics with clear KPIs and guardrails.
  • • Architect large-scale transformation in a founder-led, innovation-obsessed culture where your blueprints move healthcare from surviving to thriving—expect to present to the CEO and Board twice a year on how architecture is compressing time-to-value for customers.
  • • Define and govern target-state reference architectures for data mesh, micro-services, and event streaming that reduce technical debt by 25 % while enabling real-time analytics that cut hospital readmission penalties by up to 15 %.
  • • Lead vendor-agnostic evaluations of hyperscale and SaaS partners; negotiate enterprise licensing that saves $3–5 M annually and embeds security controls that exceed HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST requirements.
  • • Coach cross-functional squads on domain-driven design, Wardley mapping, and threat-modeling rituals so that quality, privacy, and scalability are “baked in” before a single line of code is written.
  • • Establish architecture metrics (lead time, reliability, cost per transaction) and publish quarterly dashboards that make trade-offs transparent to engineering, finance, and clinical governance teams.
  • • Champion an open-source-first mindset: contribute to PointClickCare’s public GitHub, speak at HLTH, HIMSS, or AWS re:Invent, and build reputation as a thought leader who gives back to the healthcare-tech community.
  • • De-duplicate redundant EMR integrations, creating a reusable API layer that accelerates customer onboarding from 6 months to 6 weeks while reducing interface maintenance costs by 40 %.
  • • Pilot retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and large-language-model agents that auto-populate OASIS assessments and prior-auth forms, saving nurses 2 hours per day and redirecting talent to higher-value patient engagement.
  • • Balance green-field innovation with brown-field pragmatism—decide when to refactor, replatform, or retire legacy COBOL billing engines that still process $2 B in annual claims.
  • • Collaborate with cyber-security to embed NIST 800-53 controls, ensuring every new micro-service has SBOM, SAST, DAST, and container-scanning gates that prevent breaches costing an average of $10 M in healthcare.
  • • Translate regulatory change (CMS interoperability, ONC information blocking) into architectural runway, delivering compliant APIs 9 months ahead of enforcement deadlines and turning compliance into competitive advantage.
  • • Mentor high-potential architects and product managers through a formal career-lattice program; your protĂ©gĂ©s will grow internal promotion rate by 30 % and reduce external hiring costs.
  • • Use value-stream mapping to identify bottlenecks that elongate release cycles; champion a shift-left strategy that collapses QA effort by 35 % and enables weekly production releases with 99.95 % availability.
  • • Own the disaster-recovery playbook for mission-critical SaaS, proving 4-hour RPO / 30-minute RTO under full-scale regional outage simulations audited by Big-4 firms.
  • • Continuously scan the horizon for emerging tech—ambient clinical documentation, confidential computing, federated learning—and run 6-week spikes that produce go/no-go recommendations backed by ROI models.
  • • Foster an inclusive, remote-first culture across US and Canada time-zones; facilitate architecture guild jams that rotate facilitators and amplify diverse voices, driving 90 % employee-engagement scores.

ďż˝ Requirements

  • • 12+ years designing large-scale, cloud-native solutions (AWS or Azure) with at least 5 years in a principal, fellow, or chief architect capacity in healthcare or another highly regulated industry.
  • • Expert-level command of enterprise-architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, or equivalent) and ability to create artifacts (business-capability maps, value streams, data-flow diagrams) that both engineers and executives understand.
  • • Demonstrated success leading portfolio rationalization projects that retired or consolidated ≥20 % of applications while cutting operating costs ≥$2 M annually.
  • • Deep knowledge of HL7 FHIR, USCDI, and CMS interoperability mandates; hands-on experience building APIs that pass ONC certification testing.
  • • Nice-to-have: Master’s in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or MBA; published thought leadership on AI/ML in healthcare; patent filings or open-source contributions in security, data, or cloud domains.

️ Benefits

  • • Work permanently remote from anywhere in Canada or the US with quarterly travel to our Mississauga innovation hub—we provide $1,500 annual stipend for home-office upgrades and high-speed internet.
  • • Unlimited PTO plus one paid volunteer day per month; take time to recharge or support a healthcare charity of your choice without dipping into vacation balance.
  • • Equity participation via RSUs in a profitable, founder-led company that has doubled valuation three times in the last eight years—share directly in the value your architectures create.
  • • Annual $3,000 learning wallet plus five paid conference days; pursue AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or a healthcare informatics certificate on company time and dime.
