đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Principal UX Designer on the Forma Preconstruction team at Autodesk, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of construction technology. Your mission will be to empower teams to meet the world's rapidly expanding building and infrastructure needs by making construction more predictable, safe, and sustainable. The platform you'll be contributing to already manages over $100 billion in new construction monthly, impacting everything from major stadiums to local schools and hospitals, and helping cities grow and communities thrive.
  • • In this strategic role, you will be responsible for the entire design lifecycle, from initial strategy and concept development through to the final implementation of the Takeoff product and its associated quantification workflows. You will cater to a diverse range of preconstruction personas, understanding their unique challenges and needs.
  • • Success in this position hinges on your ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence, distill complex problems into simple, elegant solutions, and collaborate effectively with a globally distributed team comprising product managers, engineers, designers, and researchers. This role demands a comprehensive skill set that includes conceptual UX design, sophisticated systems thinking, rapid prototyping, compelling storytelling, and insightful user research.
  • • We are seeking an individual who is a passionate advocate for human-centered design principles, a relentless champion for user needs, and possesses a proven track record of driving impactful design solutions within complex problem spaces to deliver exceptional user experiences.
  • • You will partner closely with product managers, engineering teams, and research specialists to define and craft outstanding user experiences for intricate, multi-workflow initiatives. A key aspect of your role will be ensuring these experiences scale seamlessly across the broader Forma platform.
  • • A significant part of your responsibility will involve independently framing ambiguous problems, meticulously defining opportunity spaces, and leading cross-team initiatives from the initial discovery phase all the way through to successful delivery. This requires navigating incomplete information and effectively managing competing priorities.
  • • You will be tasked with visualizing and prototyping solutions at various levels of fidelity. This includes creating conceptual diagrams, detailed wireframes, comprehensive end-to-end workflows, and precise specifications to guide development.
  • • Presenting your design work clearly and persuasively to stakeholders and leadership will be crucial. You will need to articulate platform tradeoffs, demonstrate the potential impact of your designs, and communicate a compelling vision for the product.
  • • Close collaboration with one or more remote teams will be essential, working iteratively to ensure continuous delivery of customer value and product improvements.
  • • You will be responsible for planning, conducting, and synthesizing user research for complex initiatives. This involves selecting appropriate methodologies to gather deep insights and ensuring these insights directly influence business outcomes and the evolution of the product roadmap.
  • • Participate in and lead design-thinking exercises designed to break down organizational silos and foster collaborative problem-solving for complex design challenges.
  • • You will work within an existing, evolving design system, while also actively contributing to its improvement and expansion. This includes enhancing standards and processes that benefit platform teams across the organization.
  • • Contribute positively to the team's culture through active participation in design critiques, providing mentorship to junior designers, and fostering a collaborative working environment.
