• • Our Security Engineering team is seeking a Principal Privacy Engineer to establish and lead the technical direction for privacy engineering across DoorDash globally. This position offers the chance to be at the forefront of privacy innovation, ensuring our platform and services are built with privacy at their core.
• • You will be an integral part of our inclusive, collaborative global team, responsible for developing "paved road" privacy-preserving controls. These controls will ensure a safe, privacy-preserving, and resilient delivery network for all our users. This is a remote position within the US or Canada, reporting directly to the Director of our Security Engineering team.
• • As a Principal Privacy Engineer, you will be instrumental in setting and executing the technical vision for Privacy Engineering, ensuring it aligns seamlessly with DoorDash's overarching business objectives. You will lead the global privacy engineering direction and drive the execution of our roadmap.
• • You will serve as the foremost technical expert, responsible for designing, influencing, and shipping practical privacy-preserving controls with a focus on both rigor and developer ergonomics. Your work will directly impact how we build and deploy features, ensuring privacy is a seamless part of the development lifecycle.
• • A key aspect of this role involves partnering cross-functionally with Core Infrastructure, Product Engineering, Legal, Security, Data teams, and other partners. The goal is to build robust "paved road" privacy-preserving controls that embed privacy-by-design principles directly into our product and infrastructure development processes.
• • You will be responsible for building and maintaining high Operational Excellence (OE) privacy services. This ensures we operate with excellence, rigor, and durable standards, minimizing downtime and maximizing reliability for our privacy-critical systems.
• • A significant and exciting part of this role is influencing and enabling the secure and responsible adoption of Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI tools from a privacy-preserving perspective. You will guide the company in leveraging these powerful technologies while upholding the highest standards of user privacy.
• • You will tackle complex, systemic issues that demand audacious thinking, rigorous analysis, and creative problem-solving. Your ability to identify and address deep-rooted privacy challenges will be crucial.
• • You will leverage exceptional analytical and investigative abilities, with hands-on experience leading root cause analysis for privacy incidents. This includes driving long-term roadmaps to effectively remediate any identified issues and prevent recurrence.
• • Your exceptional verbal and written communication skills will be vital. You will be expected to shape and lead the privacy engineering function globally, effectively influencing stakeholders across core engineering and product teams to achieve privacy-preserving control outcomes.
• • This role requires a deep understanding of data classification, inventory, sharing, and deletion processes, with demonstrated technical leadership in these areas.
• • You will also demonstrate technical leadership in areas such as Technical Data Governance (Data Scanning), Data Protection (Encryption, Pseudonymization, Crypto Shredding), Privacy Enhancing Controls (PETs), and Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs).
• • Furthermore, you will lead the design of technical privacy engineering controls and processes to meet stringent regulatory requirements like the Right to Be Forgotten, and navigate complex privacy frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, and DSA.
• • Your leadership will extend to designing scalable, AI-enabled, and ergonomic privacy review processes that streamline compliance and enhance developer efficiency.
