📋 Description

• Principal Software Engineer driving critical initiatives across Drake Tax Online, a core platform for tax professionals to prepare, review, and file returns, where engineering excellence directly impacts customer experience, scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include leading architecture and design of platform capabilities, writing production code, prototyping solutions, exploring new technologies, and unblocking teams by diving into unfamiliar systems while influencing technical direction without formal authority.
• Part of TaxWell, Inc., a forward-thinking organization building tax technology solutions under the Drake Software brand, focused on empowering tax professionals with innovative tools and dedicated to values of performance, perseverance, progress, and partnership.
• Opportunity to lead AI-native engineering practices, shape technical strategy, mentor senior engineers, modernize legacy systems, and amplify engineering leverage across the organization through responsible use of AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in delivering and operating complex software systems at scale
• Proven track record leading large technical initiatives across multiple teams in platform-critical, customer-facing, or business-critical domains
• Demonstrated effectiveness using AI-assisted development tools, coding agents, and agentic workflows as part of day-to-day software engineering practice
• Strong hands-on coding ability with experience building and operating modern web applications across frontend, backend, platform, and cloud infrastructure domains
• Experience designing, deploying, operating, and troubleshooting applications in AWS and Kubernetes-based production environments
