đź“‹ Description
- • As a Principal Software Engineer (AI) at PointClickCare Technologies Inc., you will serve as a senior technical leader driving the company’s AI-first and data-first transformation across products and platforms, directly contributing to the mission of helping providers deliver exceptional care through innovative, secure, and scalable AI solutions in healthcare.
- • You will define and deliver production-grade AI systems—including agentic and data-driven solutions—that are secure, observable, scalable, and aligned with healthcare regulatory requirements, while mentoring engineering teams and shaping organizational AI maturity.
- • Day to day, you will lead the reference architecture for AI and agentic systems within key product domains, defining standards and reusable patterns for reasoning loops, orchestration, tool/function calling, memory and state management, data integration and retrieval, safety, governance, and interoperability.
- • You will design and deliver production-ready AI systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, observability, performance, and cost efficiency across the full lifecycle, from development to deployment and monitoring.
- • You will establish platform-level AI and data components, including model broker and multi-model routing strategies, orchestration and workflow services, evaluation and experimentation frameworks, prompt/configuration/versioning systems, and telemetry, monitoring, and cost governance tooling.
- • You will lead the design of end-to-end AI data pipelines, covering document ingestion, OCR, NER, preprocessing, chunking, embeddings, vector stores, hybrid search, and offline/online evaluation for quality, latency, safety, and cost.
- • You will partner with data and analytics teams to align AI solutions with measurable product and business outcomes, and collaborate with Product Management to identify, shape, and validate AI-driven opportunities that improve clinical, operational, and business results.
- • You will help product teams transition from problem framing to AI-enabled solutions by balancing feasibility, value, risk, and regulatory constraints, and contribute to innovation by evaluating emerging AI tools, models, and frameworks through prototyping with the Advanced Technology team.
- • You will ensure all AI solutions are production grade, implementing strong practices for observability, logging, alerting, incident response, performance testing, cost optimization, safe rollout, experimentation, and rollback strategies.
- • You will embed responsible AI and security by design principles, including RBAC, audit logging, privacy controls, and alignment with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, NIST AI RMF, and ONC guidance, working closely with Security, Privacy, Regulatory, and Platform teams.
- • You will mentor and coach senior and intermediate engineers, raising organizational capability in AI and data architecture, production AI engineering practices, evaluation, experimentation, and systems thinking.
- • You will drive adoption of shared AI and data best practices, enabling teams to reuse platform components, contribute improvements back to shared frameworks, and consistently evolve domain-specific AI capabilities.
- • You will work within the AI Engineering & Enablement team, which accelerates AI adoption across the PEO by building shared platforms, establishing best practices, and enabling teams to embed AI and data capabilities into their products and workflows.
- • You will be part of a founder-led, privately held health tech company recognized by Forbes as a top private cloud company and honored as one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, with a mission to reinvest heavily in R&D and empower employees to innovate in healthcare.
- • You will have the opportunity to learn and achieve mastery in scaling responsible AI in regulated SaaS environments, shaping enterprise AI strategy, and leaving a lasting impact on millions of lives through improved healthcare delivery.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading and delivering production AI systems across multiple engineering teams.
- • Strong background in AI engineering with a data-first mindset, including experience with large-scale data pipelines and analytics-driven evaluation.
- • Hands-on experience extending or building with modern AI/agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, LlamaIndex, or equivalent.
- • Deep understanding of RAG and agentic architectures, including embeddings, vector databases, evaluation harnesses, and cost/latency tradeoffs.
- • Experience designing or contributing to offline and online evaluation methodologies tied to product metrics and business outcomes.
- • Experience implementing security by design and responsible AI practices in regulated or enterprise SaaS environments.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Flexibility to work remotely with opportunities for in-person collaboration at Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City offices for onboarding, team events, and semi-annual/annual meetings.
- • Access to significant R&D reinvestment, providing resources to innovate and make a lasting impact in healthcare AI.
- • Recognition as part of a company honored as one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, offering growth opportunities and meaningful work in a founder-led, private organization.
- • Opportunity to work with the largest long-term and post-acute care dataset and a Marketplace of 400+ integrated partners serving over 30,000 provider organizations.
- • Support for professional development through training and development programs to nurture innovation throughout the employee journey.
- • Collaboration with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Architecture, Advanced Technology, and SaaS Operations to drive AI-driven innovation from prototype to measurable business outcomes.
