đź“‹ Description
- • As a Principal Software Engineer on the SDK & Lowering Stack team at d-Matrix, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the next generation of AI hardware by architecting and developing the software foundation that allows developers to harness the full potential of the company’s novel Corsair dataflow architecture. Your work will directly impact how efficiently and effectively machine learning models are compiled and executed on cutting-edge AI accelerators, bridging the gap between innovative hardware and real-world AI applications.
- • You will help architect and develop the kernel authoring SDK that targets d-Matrix’s Corsair dataflow architecture, designing intuitive, domain-specific APIs that define clear boundaries between kernel developers and compiler teams while ensuring usability, performance, and scalability.
- • You will champion software engineering best practices by establishing robust CI/CD pipelines, driving automated testing strategies, and enforcing rigorous code review processes to maintain high code quality and reliability across the team.
- • You will build development tools for kernel authoring and modeling lowering flows, creating utilities that streamline the workflow from high-level model representation to optimized hardware-executable code.
- • You will lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and collaborative problem-solving through hands-on guidance and technical leadership.
- • You will leverage your systems engineering expertise to analyze complex hardware-software interactions, proposing and implementing solutions that optimize performance, latency, and resource utilization across the full software stack.
- • You will take end-to-end ownership of deliverables — from gathering requirements with cross-functional stakeholders and documenting designs to implementing, debugging, testing, and deploying software in fast-paced, iterative development cycles.
- • You will build and scale software deliverables within tight development windows, balancing innovation with pragmatism to meet aggressive roadmap milestones without compromising quality.
- • You will join a mission-driven, inclusive team at d-Matrix that values humility, direct communication, and diverse perspectives, where collaboration is not just encouraged but essential to solving some of the most challenging problems in AI hardware-software co-design.
- • You will have the opportunity to deepen your expertise in emerging areas such as ML compilers, dataflow architectures, and AI acceleration, while shaping the technical direction of a critical software layer that enables breakthrough generative AI performance.
🎯 Requirements
- • MS in Computer Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field with 8 years of industry experience, or PhD in same with 4 years of experience
- • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python development within a Linux environment, including standard build, debug, and version control tools
- • Proven track record in establishing and advocating for software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and comprehensive code reviews
- • Deep understanding of computer architecture, data structures, system software, and machine learning fundamentals
- • Demonstrated experience designing high-quality, scalable APIs and SDKs with a systems-level mindset for solving end-to-end problems
- • Self-motivated, collaborative team player with strong ownership, leadership, and communication skills
🏖️ Benefits
- • Opportunity to work on pioneering AI hardware-software co-design at the forefront of generative AI innovation
- • Hybrid work flexibility — based in Santa Clara HQ but open to remote arrangements within the US/Canada
- • Collaborative, inclusive culture rooted in humility, direct communication, and mutual respect
- • Access to cutting-edge technology and the chance to contribute to meaningful advancements in AI compute
- • Professional growth through mentorship, technical leadership, and exposure to cross-functional challenges in a fast-moving startup environment
