📋 Description
- • As a Principal UX Design Strategist specializing in AI, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of user experience at PTC Inc. This pivotal role involves defining and driving the maturity of AI-driven user experiences across PTC's diverse product portfolio, ensuring a cohesive, intuitive, and trustworthy interaction for our customers.
- • You will be a key member of the Atlas AI UX Team, taking ownership of the creation and governance of AI UX patterns, guidelines, and best practices. Your work will empower product teams to accelerate the delivery of AI-enhanced features while maintaining a consistent and familiar user journey.
- • Your responsibilities will span strategic vision setting, detailed pattern development, and hands-on design direction. You will collaborate closely with product managers, fellow designers, user researchers, and engineering teams to translate complex user insights, market trends, and competitive intelligence into actionable, reusable AI interaction models.
- • A significant portion of your role (approximately 30%) will focus on AI UX Strategy. Here, you will be instrumental in shaping how PTC's products evolve with the integration of AI capabilities. This involves defining a clear, cross-product vision, establishing core principles for AI interaction, and formulating a comprehensive strategy that guides the future of AI UX across the company.
- • The largest segment of your time (around 40%) will be dedicated to developing Cross-Product Patterns & Guidelines. This involves conducting in-depth user research, performing comparative and competitive analyses to identify best-in-class AI UX patterns. You will then translate these findings and insights into well-documented, reusable AI UX patterns that internal teams can readily adopt.
- • You will actively participate in design critiques, reviews, and working sessions with product, UX, and engineering teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring alignment on shared objectives. Your ability to synthesize complex information and articulate clear design solutions will be crucial.
- • Approximately 20% of your role will involve providing Design Direction & Enablement. You will offer actionable critiques and hands-on guidance to designers who are implementing the AI UX patterns. This includes reviewing their work for consistency, usability, and adherence to standards. You will also serve as a resource, unblocking teams by providing essential artifacts, illustrative examples, and reference implementations.
- • A smaller but vital part of your role (10%) is dedicated to Team Culture. You will actively engage in team rituals, participate in mentorship opportunities, and contribute to design-related events. Your commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment is highly valued.
- • You will leverage your strong written and visual communication skills to codify patterns and guidelines clearly, providing teams with practical examples they can easily apply. This includes requirements gathering and writing to effectively inform and influence partner teams, such as PTC’s design systems team and others involved in execution.
- • Your role requires a deep curiosity about the software space, staying abreast of broader application design trends and emerging technical capabilities, particularly AI platform advancements, to unlock better design outcomes for users.
- • Expertise in designing rich interactive applications for web and/or desktop, coupled with proficiency in modern design systems, is essential. You will be expected to act as a self-starter with strong organizational skills, excelling at orchestrating cross-team work and driving critical decisions to fruition.
- • You will lead cross-product UX initiatives or standards programs, translating research and competitive insights into reusable patterns and authoring high-quality documentation. Your experience in directing designers, partnering effectively with Product, Engineering, and Data/AI teams, and driving measurable UX improvements through pattern adoption will be key to success.
- • Experience in enterprise SaaS and navigating complex, information-rich workflows is highly desirable. Contributing to a shared design system or UX guild, along with strong workshop facilitation and enablement skills, will further enhance your impact.
- • A track record of designing for emerging technologies, while not strictly required, is considered a significant plus, indicating your ability to adapt and innovate in a rapidly evolving landscape.
- • Ultimately, you will be a visible champion of AI UX, educating teams, codifying standards, and guiding adoption across PTC's extensive product portfolio. Your ability to combine curiosity with rigorous systems thinking will be paramount in making complex, intelligent experiences feel approachable and trustworthy for all users.
