Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Process Engineer, CNC Automation at Dandy Technology, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in revolutionizing the dental manufacturing landscape by developing and scaling high-precision, automated CNC processes for patient-specific dental components. Your work will directly enable the production of micron-accurate restorations—such as crowns, bridges, and implants—at scale, supporting Dandy’s mission to modernize dental practices worldwide through technology-driven innovation.
  • • Day to day, you will own end-to-end CNC process development from prototype to full-scale production, designing and validating machining workflows for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills to achieve exceptional precision, surface finish, and throughput on complex biomaterials like zirconia, titanium, and PMMA. You will integrate robotic loading, vision systems, and in-line probing to enable lights-out, 24/7 manufacturing operations, while optimizing toolpaths, feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies using advanced CAM software and simulation tools.
  • • You will develop and document comprehensive process standards, including tool libraries, custom fixture designs, validation protocols, and SPC control plans, ensuring reproducibility, traceability, and compliance with medical manufacturing regulations. Collaborating closely with R&D and design teams, you will improve the manufacturability of patient-specific geometries without compromising clinical fidelity, applying DFM principles to reduce waste and increase yield.
  • • Leading root cause analysis and yield improvement initiatives across machining cells, you will apply structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, DMAIC) and statistical tools to identify and eliminate sources of variation. You will partner with software, automation, and quality engineering teams to build reliable, scalable manufacturing lines capable of producing tens of thousands of custom parts daily, while continuously scouting and qualifying emerging technologies—such as adaptive tooling, in-process metrology, and next-gen machine architectures—to push the boundaries of digital manufacturing.
  • • Working within Dandy’s fast-paced, innovation-driven culture, you will contribute to a mission-focused team that values technical excellence, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven decision-making. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape the future of automated dental manufacturing at scale, gaining deep expertise in high-mix, low-volume CNC automation within a regulated, patient-centric industry—skills that are increasingly vital across advanced manufacturing sectors.
  • • You will grow both technically and professionally, mastering the integration of mechanical design, automation, software, and quality systems in a real-world digital feedback loop. By solving complex manufacturing challenges at the intersection of precision engineering and healthcare innovation, you will build a distinguished career in advanced manufacturing while contributing to improved patient outcomes through better, faster, and more accessible dental care.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 8+ years of hands-on experience in micron-level precision CNC machining, automation, or process development, preferably in medical devices, dental, or other patient-specific manufacturing environments.
  • • Deep expertise in multi-axis milling (3-, 4-, and 5-axis), including milling strategy development, toolpath optimization, cutting dynamics, and precision fixturing techniques for complex geometries.
  • • Proven experience developing, tuning, or troubleshooting post-processors and control drivers for G- and M-code generation (e.g., Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens) to ensure accurate and reliable machine execution.
  • • Demonstrated success integrating automation systems—such as robotic arms, part changers, vision inspection, and in-line metrology—into CNC workflows to enable lights-out, high-throughput production.
  • • Strong working knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), process validation methodologies, and manufacturing scalability principles to ensure consistent, compliant output at volume.
  • • Systems-thinking mindset with the ability to understand and optimize the interplay between design, manufacturing, inspection, and feedback loops in a digital manufacturing environment.
  • • Willingness to travel up to 30% for machine qualification, vendor assessments, or cross-site collaboration as needed.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Comprehensive healthcare, dental, and vision plans tailored to U.S.-based employees, including mental health support and wellness resources.
  • • Generous paid time off (PTO), company holidays, and parental leave policies designed to support work-life balance and family planning.
  • • Retirement savings options with company matching to help employees build long-term financial security.
  • • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with an accessible workplace compliant with the ADA and supportive of accommodations for interviews and employment.
  • • Access to cutting-edge projects in digital dental manufacturing, offering unparalleled exposure to automation, precision engineering, and healthcare technology innovation.
