š Description
- ā¢ As a Product Design Intern at Homebase Labs Inc., you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of tools used by over 2.5 million hourly workers and small business owners daily, directly contributing to products that simplify scheduling, payroll, communication, and HR for local businesses.
- ā¢ You will own end-to-end design projects from research and ideation through prototyping, testing, and final implementation, ensuring your work ships to production and becomes part of your professional portfolio.
- ā¢ Day to day, you will conduct user research to uncover pain points among small business owners and hourly workers, synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights, and translate them into intuitive design solutions across iOS, Android, and web platforms.
- ā¢ You will rapidly prototype and iterate using Figma and AI-assisted tools like Claude, Cursor, and V0, incorporating feedback from users, product managers, and engineers to refine your designs.
- ā¢ You will contribute to and maintain consistency within Homebaseās design system, ensuring visual polish and component reuse across mobile and web interfaces to improve team efficiency and product quality.
- ā¢ You will collaborate closely with engineers during design critiques, stand-ups, and implementation phases, advocating for user-centered solutions while learning how designs translate into functional code.
- ā¢ You will participate in shadowing research calls and usability observations to build deep product intuition and develop empathy for the real-world challenges faced by hourly teams.
- ā¢ You will identify and experiment with AI opportunities to accelerate your workflow, exploring how generative design tools can enhance ideation, prototyping, and design decision-making speed.
- ā¢ You will articulate your design rationale clearly in cross-functional settings, practicing how to defend decisions with data, user feedback, and design principles while remaining open to critique.

- ā¢ Over the 6-month hybrid internship (based in Denver, Toronto, or San Francisco), you will receive mentorship from senior designers, grow your confidence in navigating ambiguity, and leave with tangible, shipped work that demonstrates your ability to think like a product designer in a fast-paced tech environment.
šÆ Requirements
- ā¢ Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or a related field
- ā¢ Strong portfolio demonstrating product thinking, user flow design, wireframing, and interactive prototyping skills
- ā¢ Ability to articulate design decisions clearly to cross-functional partners and comfortably navigate ambiguity through self-directed learning
