  • • Lyrebird Health is at the forefront of revolutionizing healthcare by developing innovative solutions that automate time-consuming tasks for clinicians, thereby enhancing the quality and accessibility of care. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Design Lead with a strong clinical background to join our dynamic team in Melbourne. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on how healthcare is delivered by shaping the future of our product through insightful and user-centric design.
  • • As the Product Design Lead - Clinical, you will be instrumental in bringing clarity, momentum, and focus to our product design initiatives. Your primary responsibility will be to translate complex clinical needs and workflows into intuitive, effective, and impactful product solutions. This role demands a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on design execution, and leadership, all while working within a fast-paced and evolving startup environment.
  • • A key aspect of this role is leveraging your first-hand understanding of clinical workflows, decision-making processes, and the real-world constraints faced by healthcare professionals. This deep insight will be the foundation for designing products that not only meet user needs but also genuinely improve care delivery, moving beyond superficial aesthetics to deliver tangible value.
  • • You will thrive in ambiguous environments, comfortable with navigating uncertainty and collaborating closely with our founders and executive leadership team. Your ability to unpack early-stage ideas, define clear problem statements, and guide the design process toward meaningful and measurable outcomes will be crucial for success.
  • • This position requires a leader who can effectively balance strategic oversight with hands-on design work. You will be expected to provide structure and direction to design efforts while remaining deeply involved in the execution, ensuring the quality and integrity of the design output.
  • • Your responsibilities will include leading user research initiatives to uncover unmet needs and validate design concepts within clinical settings. You will conduct in-depth interviews, observational studies, and usability testing with clinicians to gather critical feedback and insights.
  • • You will be responsible for developing user personas, journey maps, and information architecture to represent user needs and guide product development. Translating these insights into wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes will be a core part of your day-to-day activities.
  • • Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders will be essential. You will facilitate design thinking workshops, present design concepts, and iterate based on feedback to ensure alignment and buy-in across the organization.
  • • You will champion a user-centered design philosophy throughout the product development lifecycle, advocating for the needs of clinicians and patients.
  • • Your role will involve defining and maintaining design systems and style guides to ensure consistency and scalability across our product suite.
  • • You will also play a vital role in mentoring and guiding junior designers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing design team culture.
  • • Critically, you will be expected to contribute to the strategic product roadmap, providing design perspectives that align with business goals and user needs.
  • • The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio showcasing a track record of designing successful, user-centered digital products, particularly within the healthcare or clinical domain.
  • • You will be adept at using industry-standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • • Your communication skills will be exceptional, enabling you to articulate design decisions clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, from technical teams to executive leadership.
  • • We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving healthcare outcomes through technology and is excited by the prospect of working in a mission-driven organization.
  • • Lyrebird Health is committed to building a product that clinicians trust. This trust is built on reliability, speed, and security, and your design leadership will be paramount in upholding and enhancing this trust with every feature and iteration.
  • • Join us in our mission to empower clinicians and transform healthcare delivery for the better. Your expertise and passion for clinical design will be invaluable as we continue to grow and innovate.
