📋 Description

• Abacum is seeking a talented and driven Product Designer to join our growing team in Barcelona. As a key member of the Abacum Design team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience and interface of our leading Business Planning solution. Our platform empowers finance teams to move beyond tedious number crunching and focus on strategic decision-making by automating reporting, fostering collaboration, and simplifying planning and forecasting. You will be instrumental in making Abacum the most intuitive, flexible, and user-friendly FP&A solution available on the market.
• In this role, you will collaborate closely with Product Managers and Engineers, acting as a bridge between user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility. Your primary responsibility will be to translate complex financial planning concepts into elegant, accessible, and powerful design solutions. You will own the design process from initial concept exploration through to final implementation, ensuring a seamless and delightful experience for our users.
• A core aspect of your work will involve deeply understanding the problem space. You will become a subject-matter expert within your assigned squad, gaining a profound understanding of user pain points, existing workflows, and the technical limitations and opportunities of our platform. This deep empathy for the user will be the foundation for all your design decisions.
• You will be responsible for exploring and generating innovative design concepts. This involves translating user and business problems, alongside stakeholder inputs, into tangible design directions. You will visually communicate these concepts through a range of deliverables, including detailed wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes, allowing for clear communication and feedback throughout the design process.
• Delivering viable and robust solutions is paramount. You will propose design solutions that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also consistent, intuitive, and consider the entire end-to-end user workflow. You will actively seek and incorporate stakeholder feedback to facilitate rapid iteration and ensure alignment across teams. Meticulous documentation of user flows and design specifications will be crucial for a smooth and efficient handover to the engineering team, ensuring that your vision is accurately translated into the final product.
• A significant part of your contribution will involve conducting evaluative research. This includes planning and executing user interviews and usability testing sessions to identify and address UX issues before and after product implementation. You will meticulously document your findings, analyze them, and generate actionable ideas for product improvements, directly influencing the product roadmap and user satisfaction.
• Continuous assessment of the product's usability is essential. You will proactively engage with the product through hands-on usage and observation, identifying potential usability challenges. These issues and any innovative ideas will be systematically documented, categorized, and linked to overarching company objectives and the product roadmap, ensuring that design efforts are strategically aligned.
• You will be a key contributor to our evolving design system. This involves actively maintaining and enhancing our Figma design library, ensuring its consistency and scalability. You will be responsible for documenting new components and design patterns, and proactively proposing additions and improvements to further strengthen our design foundation and accelerate future design work.
• Beyond your direct design responsibilities, you will contribute to the broader design discipline within Abacum. This includes helping to define and conduct design rituals, refining our tools and ways of working, and actively participating in the hiring process for future design talent. Your insights and experience will help shape the future of design at Abacum.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience in Product Design, with a strong portfolio showcasing problem-solving processes and solid visual UI skills. Case studies demonstrating your design thinking are highly valued, even if not from real client work.
• Expert proficiency in Figma and experience with Design Systems.
• Deep and up-to-date knowledge of UX principles, UI patterns, and a willingness to adopt new methodologies and tools.
• Understanding of the fundamentals of software development, particularly front-end development, and the ability to create efficient and scalable UI solutions (without coding).
• Excellent communication skills in professional English (essential).
