Dandy Technology is seeking a motivated Product Designer to join our Chairside and Product Lines Team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the user experience of Dandy's flagship product, Chairside, and its supporting product line functionalities. This is a unique opportunity to dive deep into dentist-facing workflows, directly influencing the accuracy, efficiency, and ultimately, the patient outcomes within dental practices.
• • At Dandy, we are building the operating system for dental offices worldwide, simplifying and modernizing every aspect of practice management through innovative technology. As a Product Designer on this team, you will be at the forefront of this mission, focusing on the core clinical experience. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Operations specialists, and fellow Senior and Staff Design peers, guiding your work from the initial stages of problem identification and framing, through meticulous execution, and into continuous iteration based on real-world feedback.
• • While strategic product direction will be a collaborative effort, your role will demand critical thinking, the ability to ask probing questions, and the delivery of robust design solutions that perform flawlessly in production. You will own significant aspects of the user journey, ensuring that every interaction is intuitive, efficient, and contributes to a seamless workflow for dental professionals.
• • Your primary responsibilities will encompass the end-to-end design of critical workflows within Chairside and our broader product lines. This includes, but is not limited to, the intricate processes of scanning patient data and placing orders. You will take full ownership of specific problem areas or features, driving the design process from initial concept exploration and wireframing to the creation of high-fidelity user interfaces and detailed specifications for engineering handoff. A key aspect of your role will be ensuring that your designs are not only clear and highly usable but also technically feasible and operationally sound, considering the real-world constraints of a busy dental practice.
• • We expect you to execute with exceptional craft and sound judgment. This involves creating thoughtful interaction flows, detailed wireframes, and polished high-fidelity designs that strike an optimal balance between speed of delivery, overall quality, and the critical needs of our users. You will be expected to leverage and consistently apply components from our established design system, demonstrating a keen understanding of when a particular problem warrants the creation of new design patterns or components. A significant part of your contribution will be in meticulously refining the details that are paramount for usability, accuracy, and user confidence, particularly in workflow-heavy environments where errors can have significant consequences.
• • Collaboration is at the heart of our design process. You will work daily with Product Managers and Engineers to refine requirements, explore potential design tradeoffs, and collaboratively iterate towards the most effective solutions. You will actively participate in design critiques and reviews with Senior and Staff Designers, readily incorporating feedback to elevate the quality and impact of your work. Clear and concise communication of your design decisions will be essential, ensuring they are well-grounded in user needs, business objectives, and product goals.
• • Learning and iteration are continuous processes at Dandy. You will actively participate in user research initiatives, usability testing sessions, and customer interviews to gather insights that will directly inform your design decisions. You will leverage user feedback, insights from our customer support teams, and key product metrics to iterate and improve upon designs that have already been shipped. Cultivating a deep curiosity about how your designs perform in the real world and demonstrating a willingness to adjust and optimize based on this data will be crucial for your success.
• • As you grow within the role, you will have opportunities to expand your scope of ownership. With the support of senior design partners, you will gradually take on more responsibility in problem framing and defining solution direction. You will build confidence in navigating ambiguity and contributing earlier in the product development lifecycle. Learning when to advocate for your design vision, when to align with team consensus, and when to seek guidance will be key developmental aspects of this position.
