📋 Description

• As a Product Designer in People Innovation Labs at OpenAI, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how AI transforms internal talent systems, directly contributing to the company’s mission of building safe and beneficial AGI by empowering OpenAI’s workforce through innovative, human-centered design.
• You will design and ship high-impact internal products—from early concept to polished prototype—such as AI-powered recruiting tools, knowledge platforms like OpenHouse, and culture-enhancing systems, ensuring they are intuitive, scalable, and aligned with OpenAI’s first-principles approach to innovation.
• You will collaborate daily with engineers, product managers, AI researchers, and fellow designers to translate complex technical and behavioral insights into cohesive design strategies, balancing long-term vision with actionable, short-term execution.
• You will lead user research initiatives to deeply understand the needs of OpenAI’s employees, using qualitative and quantitative methods to uncover pain points and validate design decisions that improve engagement, retention, and productivity.
• You will contribute to and evolve OpenAI’s internal design system, establishing consistent patterns, components, and guidelines that elevate the quality and cohesion of all People Team products across the organization.
• You will help cultivate a strong design culture within People Innovation Labs by mentoring peers, advocating for design excellence, and helping grow the team’s capabilities and influence across the company.
• You will gain unparalleled exposure to cutting-edge AI research, learning how to integrate frontier model capabilities into product experiences that redefine what’s possible in HR technology and organizational design.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience shipping large-scale software products, preferably in B2B, enterprise, or internal tooling contexts
• A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional UX, UI, and interaction design skills, with evidence of high-quality craftsmanship and thoughtful problem-solving
• Proven ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, synthesizing complex problems into clear, actionable design visions and strategies
