- • As a Product Designer/Sr. Product Designer at Matterworks, you will shape how scientists interact with Pyxis, our application layer for foundation models of biochemical data, helping to make biology's dark matter legible through intuitive, AI-native tools.
- • You will iterate at high velocity by producing dozens of design explorations through sketching, Figma, and coded prototypes in tools like Claude and v0, while crafting beautiful final designs with high polish in typography, hierarchy, and interaction.
- • You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and scientists to understand user needs through interviews, session replay, and customer calls, and build reusable components that work across the web app, MCP connector, and agentic interfaces.
- • This role offers the opportunity to define new conventions for how scientists work with AI in biology, gain deep exposure to cutting-edge foundation models and scientific workflows, and grow your impact in a mission-driven, innovative environment with potential for extension or conversion to full-time.
🎯 Requirements
- • Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of complex product surfaces and systems thinking (reusable patterns, components, or design primitives)
- • Experience designing data-dense interfaces such as tables, plots, and dashboards
- • Fluency in Figma and rapid-prototyping tools (Claude, v0, Cursor, or similar) with clear written communication
- • Strong self-direction and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- • Comfort pairing with engineers through implementation, not just at handoff
- • Experience designing AI-powered, agentic, or model-driven products is a plus
