📋 Description

• Work end-to-end on AI-powered product features, owning backend architecture (server logic, databases, APIs) and frontend implementation (React components) without relying on separate teams.
• Collaborate directly with the founding team and early customers to translate complex immigration process needs into scalable, intuitive software experiences.
• Build and ship features using modern AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) as core components of your development workflow, not just as autocomplete aids.
• Design and integrate MCP servers to connect internal tools, data sources, and workflows into your development loop to accelerate feature delivery.
• Operate as a force multiplier by leveraging AI agents to scaffold, review, test, and harden production code — shipping 5–10x faster than traditional engineers while maintaining high quality.
• Engage in the full application lifecycle: from initial prototyping and database schema design to deployment, debugging, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
• Own the entire user experience of a feature — from backend API logic to the UI users interact with — ensuring seamless, high-quality delivery without handoffs.
• Partner with the product and design team to transform user feedback and product requirements into shipped features, avoiding the "throw it over the wall" model.
• Continuously evolve the team’s approach to AI-assisted code review, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines optimized for agent-driven development velocity.
• Build products from zero to one in a high-intensity, fast-moving startup environment with unsolved challenges and minimal process overhead.
• Maintain a high bar for coding standards, testing coverage, and production reliability despite rapid iteration cycles enabled by AI tooling.
• Use AI-native development practices: your first instinct when facing a problem is to spin up an agent to scaffold, refine, and validate solutions before manual implementation.
• Deploy and scale microservices in containerized environments, ensuring performance, observability, and resilience as the platform scales toward 100x growth.
• Work closely with ML and AI systems that power immigration decision workflows, requiring deep understanding of LLM integration, prompt engineering, and output validation.
• Be located in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate to support in-person collaboration with the founding team.
• Contribute to shaping the company’s engineering culture around AI-augmented development, including documentation, tooling standards, and team-wide adoption of agent-assisted workflows.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience with demonstrated willingness to own frontend work, including React and TypeScript
• Experience developing products built on top of LLMs or ML systems
• Proficient in Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, containerization, and scaling microservices
• Daily, hands-on use of modern AI coding harnesses (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or equivalent) as a primary method for shipping production code
• Comfortable building and consuming MCP servers to integrate tools and data into development workflows
• Located in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate
