- • Serve as the Programming Manager for France/Benelux on a fixed-term maternity cover, primarily focused on the Netherlands, shaping content strategy and licensing for European markets.
- • Contribute to the design and execution of MUBI’s programming vision in the Netherlands, France, and broader Benelux region, aligned with key growth metrics and business objectives.
- • Build and maintain direct relationships with rights holders including local distributors, filmmakers, producers, and international sales agents to secure library deals and early-window licensing opportunities.
- • Source, negotiate, and draft licensing agreements for library titles and platform exclusives across the Netherlands and additional European territories.
- • Assess submitted and scouted films for suitability in programming for France and other designated territories, ensuring alignment with MUBI’s curatorial values and audience expectations.
- • Optimize content offerings by evaluating programming possibilities and initiating localized licensing initiatives to enhance regional relevance and engagement.
- • Collaborate with the analytics team to interpret viewer data, subscriber engagement metrics, and content performance to inform curation, valuation, and investment decisions.
- • Share insights on content performance and subscriber behavior with cross-functional teams including Content and Marketing to drive data-informed programming strategies.
- • Conduct ongoing research on industry trends, competitive landscape developments, and licensing patterns across European markets to maintain up-to-date market intelligence.
- • Compose editorial content to introduce, contextualize, and promote curated film programming for subscribers in the Netherlands, ensuring alignment with MUBI’s brand voice and cinematic ethos.
- • Maintain a deep, active knowledge of arthouse and independent cinema, both domestic and international, spanning historical and contemporary film movements.
- • Work closely with global Programming, Content, and Marketing teams to ensure cohesive, regionally tailored experiences that reflect MUBI’s mission of elevating visionary cinema.
- • Act as a key liaison between MUBI and European film industry stakeholders to identify and secure exclusive or early-access content opportunities.
- • Continuously improve internal methodologies and tools used for licensing, curation, and market analysis to increase efficiency and strategic impact.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience in the film industry, specifically in digital acquisition or sales
- • Strong cinema knowledge, including domestic and international arthouse and independent films, past and present
- • Solid understanding of the arthouse and independent film market and digital distribution landscape in the Netherlands and other European territories
- • Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate cross-functionally and maintain high-standard relationships with external partners
- • Native-level proficiency in Dutch (preferred)
- • Ability to analyze data to make informed programming and licensing decisions (preferred)
