  • • Kin Insurance is revolutionizing the homeowners insurance landscape by leveraging data, technology, and exceptional human support to create simpler, more affordable, and ultimately better experiences for homeowners. As a remote-first company with a growing presence across 13 states and counting, Kin is dedicated to building products that are clear, fair, and empower homeowners, especially in regions facing climate risks and rising costs. Our commitment to disciplined growth, customer satisfaction, and long-term sustainability has earned us accolades such as Forbes' America's Best Startup Employers and Great Places to Work Certification, underscoring our mission to foster meaningful work with real impact.
  • • The Property Tax Consultant (Texas or Georgia) role is a pivotal opportunity within Kin's Product team, aimed at empowering homeowners to better understand and navigate the often-complex property tax appeals process. Property taxes represent one of the most significant and frequently misunderstood expenses for homeowners, and many miss out on potential savings due to inaccurate assessments. This role is designed to translate the intricacies of the Texas or Georgia property tax systems into actionable insights and tangible savings for our customers.
  • • As a Property Tax Consultant, you will be instrumental in shaping a homeowner-facing solution by providing deep subject matter expertise. Your responsibilities will encompass conducting informal appraisals to establish accurate market values for residential and commercial properties, ensuring that our product is grounded in sound valuation principles. You will be the go-to expert on Texas property tax protest regulations and compliance considerations, guiding the development of a user-friendly and legally sound product.
  • • A key aspect of this role involves sharing in-depth knowledge of county appraisal district practices and the procedural nuances that vary across major counties within Texas. This granular understanding will be crucial for developing workflows that are both effective and adaptable to local requirements. You will also be responsible for clearly explaining protest submission processes, detailing the necessary documentation, critical filing timelines, and the various submission methods employed across different counties.
  • • Furthermore, your expertise will extend to advising on hearing preparation and protest strategy, outlining common expectations and best practices that homeowners can leverage. This guidance will be vital in equipping customers with the knowledge they need to successfully challenge their property tax assessments. You will also play a critical role in identifying operational requirements and potential risks associated with launching this new property tax protest support product, ensuring a smooth and successful rollout.
  • • In essence, you will serve as a trusted advisor throughout the product design and development lifecycle. Your insights will ensure that the product is not only innovative and customer-centric but also maintains regulatory accuracy and operational feasibility. This role requires a unique blend of technical property tax knowledge, an understanding of regulatory landscapes, and the ability to translate complex information into practical, customer-friendly solutions. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to bring this valuable new capability to life, directly contributing to Kin's mission of simplifying homeownership for our customers.
