- • As a Research & Development Engineer with an AI focus, you will be a pivotal member of the Mo team, a dedicated unit within Alan committed to redefining the future of care through the democratization of medical expertise. Mo is an intelligent, empathetic, multimodal LLM-based conversational AI assistant designed to diagnose, triage, and proactively manage patient care, offering instant, 24/7 access to personalized medical guidance via chat, voice, or video.
- • This role places you at the cutting edge of AI research and clinical application, with the primary mission to develop the world's most accurate and reliable medical agent while ensuring an exceptional conversational user experience. You will be instrumental in building Mo from its R&D phase into a scalable, real-world product.
- • Your responsibilities will encompass the development and evaluation of foundation models and fine-tuned architectures for structured clinical reasoning. This involves working with curated clinical datasets, including electronic medical records (EMRs) and clinical guidelines, to build sophisticated doctor-like reasoning agents that are iterated upon in close collaboration with medical experts.
- • You will play a crucial role in augmenting AI-generated responses with structured clinical knowledge, such as drug databases and treatment protocols, by implementing robust retrieval pipelines and advanced hallucination-mitigation strategies to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- • The position also involves pushing the boundaries of voice-based AI in healthcare. You will research and deploy cutting-edge streaming speech recognition and context-aware state switching technologies to enable Mo to engage in real-time, naturalistic dialogue, mirroring the capabilities of a human clinician.
- • A significant aspect of your work will be the development of comprehensive evaluation frameworks for clinical AI. This includes designing and executing both manual and programmatic evaluations to pinpoint areas of failure in our AI agents and drive continuous improvement.
- • Furthermore, you will contribute to building lifelong memory and personalization infrastructure for Mo. This involves exploring novel architectures for dynamic memory and personalized reasoning, enabling Mo to evolve into a truly personal and relevant health companion for each user.
- • You will operate at the forefront of Large Language Models (LLMs), multi-agent architectures, and human-in-the-loop learning, with the unique opportunity to see your research directly deployed in production, positively impacting the lives of real people.
- • This role demands tackling open-ended, high-risk research problems that require a blend of rigor, creativity, and rapid execution. 🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of experience in Research & Development, particularly in AI/ML, or an equivalent research track record.
- • Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and/or large-scale model training.
- • Experience with LLMs, RLHF, multi-agent systems, retrieval-augmented generation, or speech processing is a significant advantage.
- • Product-minded approach, with a desire to see research translated into practical applications.
- • Self-directed, pragmatic, humble, collaborative, and eager to learn and teach.
- • Fluent in English.
