📋 Description

• As a Research Engineer on the World Models team at Waabi Innovation Inc., you will develop and productionize next-generation algorithms for modeling complex, dynamic 4D environments, directly enabling realistic simulation for autonomous vehicles.
• You will design, implement, and scale state-of-the-art generative and predictive systems including video generation, latent diffusion, multimodal foundation models, and LLM/VLM/VLA approaches for scene understanding and control.
• You will collaborate with research scientists to translate prototypes into robust, large-scale distributed training and inference pipelines while optimizing for efficiency, speed, and reliability.
• You will build high-quality data pipelines, ensure codebase stability and maintainability, and stay current with advances in generative AI and efficient model deployment in robotics.
• Waabi is a leader in Physical AI, pioneering autonomous transportation technology for commercial trucks and robotaxis, backed by top partners in AI, automotive, logistics, and deep tech, with a mission to impact the world positively through innovation.
• You will join a world-class, collaborative team in Toronto (with global offices) focused on pushing the boundaries of simulation and AI for real-world autonomy, where your work will directly power Waabi World’s ability to simulate safety-critical scenarios and support downstream planning and training.
• In this role, you will gain deep expertise in large-scale generative modeling, distributed systems, and AI infrastructure, while contributing to breakthroughs in physical AI that shape the future of autonomous transportation.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong software engineering skills with expert-level Python and PyTorch (or JAX) proficiency, including extensive experience in distributed training and large-scale model deployment.
• Master’s degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience in model development and scaling.
• Proven experience building and deploying generative or predictive models of the physical world with a focus on scale, efficiency, and robustness for real-world applications.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in fast-paced, research-driven teams with strong communication and a track record of delivering impactful projects.
