Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • • Join BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) as a Medical Record Scheduling & Imaging Technician, a vital role within our Risk Adjustment Medical Record Retrieval team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the accuracy and integrity of our risk adjustment processes, directly impacting the health and financial well-being of our members. You will be instrumental in acquiring, organizing, and uploading critical medical records, ensuring that our coding and risk assessment systems are robust and up-to-date. This is a remote position, offering flexibility while maintaining a crucial connection to our mission.
  • • In this role, your primary responsibility will be the meticulous acquisition and uploading of medical records. This involves interacting with healthcare provider offices to request and obtain necessary documentation. You will be adept at navigating Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and other digital platforms to efficiently retrieve and process these records. A key part of your day-to-day will involve loading these acquired medical records into BCBST's proprietary coding system, ensuring each record is accurately linked to the correct chart identification (ID). This precision is paramount for effective risk adjustment and member care.
  • • Beyond record acquisition, you will play a significant role in scheduling tasks. This includes coordinating with provider offices to schedule appointments for record retrieval or to facilitate the submission of requested medical records. Your ability to manage these scheduling logistics efficiently will be critical to maintaining workflow and meeting deadlines. You will be the point of contact for many provider offices, requiring strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • • Quality assurance is another cornerstone of this position. You will be responsible for conducting thorough quality assurance activities on all medical records received from providers. This involves reviewing records for completeness, accuracy, and legibility, ensuring they meet BCBST's standards. Identifying and flagging any discrepancies or missing information will be a key part of this process, contributing to the overall reliability of our data.
  • • This role also provides opportunities for professional growth and contribution to broader initiatives. You will be expected to perform or participate in special projects as directed by management. These projects may involve process improvement, system testing, or other critical tasks that support the Risk Adjustment team's objectives. Your adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges will be highly valued.
  • • Success in this role hinges on a combination of technical proficiency and interpersonal skills. You will need to be comfortable working with various software systems, particularly EMRs and Microsoft Office Suite. Your organizational skills will be tested as you manage multiple requests, deadlines, and projects simultaneously. Building and maintaining positive relationships with healthcare providers, colleagues, and internal stakeholders will be essential for smooth operations and effective collaboration.
  • • As a remote employee, you will be expected to maintain a high level of self-discipline, time management, and communication. Proactive engagement and clear reporting of progress and any challenges encountered will be crucial. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to ensuring the accuracy of risk adjustment data, which ultimately supports better healthcare outcomes for BCBST members. This role is more than just data entry; it's about contributing to a healthier future through diligent and accurate record management.
