- • As a Security Associate in M&A & Partnerships at Kraken, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the company’s growth by evaluating and securing the technical foundations of potential acquisitions, partnerships, and vendor engagements. This role sits at the intersection of security, technology, and business strategy, ensuring that Kraken’s expansion through M&A does not compromise its industry-leading security posture or operational integrity.
- • You will conduct comprehensive security and IT due diligence on target companies, assessing cybersecurity risks, infrastructure maturity, and technology stack alignment with Kraken’s standards. You will lead the integration of IT systems and security practices post-acquisition, driving cross-functional coordination to ensure seamless onboarding while maintaining rigorous security controls. Your work will directly enable Kraken to scale securely in the fast-evolving crypto landscape, protecting both the organization and its users.
- • You will partner closely with Security, IT, Engineering, Corporate Development, Legal, Finance, and Product teams to align on technical requirements, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies. Your ability to translate complex technical findings into actionable business insights will be essential in shaping deal outcomes and integration success.
- • You will continuously improve internal workflows by leveraging automation, AI-enabled tooling, and standardized reporting mechanisms, helping to scale the team’s impact despite its small size. This role offers the opportunity to shape Kraken’s M&A security framework from the ground up, influencing how the company evaluates and integrates new technologies and teams.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in security architecture, technical project management, and cross-functional leadership within a high-impact, mission-driven organization. You will gain hands-on experience navigating the unique security challenges of the crypto industry while working with globally distributed teams and cutting-edge technologies. You will develop strategic thinking alongside tactical execution skills, positioning you for advancement into senior security, GRC, or technical leadership roles within Kraken or the broader tech and finance sectors.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years of experience in security, engineering, IT, technical project management, or M&A integration roles
- • Demonstrated ability to design or execute technical architecture plans that support business goals, with deep expertise in at least one area such as Identity & Access Management (IAM), IT Systems Management, Application Security, DevOps/SRE, Vulnerability Management, Security Architecture, or Cloud & Datacenter Security
- • Strong understanding of IT systems, network infrastructure, cybersecurity principles, and audit/compliance frameworks, coupled with experience leveraging automation and AI to improve technical workflows
