- • As a Security Engineer at Forward Financing, you will play a vital role in protecting the company’s digital infrastructure by designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security systems that safeguard sensitive financial data and ensure operational resilience in a fast-growing fintech environment.
- • You will contribute directly to the company’s mission of unlocking capital for small businesses by ensuring the security and reliability of the technology platforms that enable fast, secure funding decisions.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include building and maintaining security automation workflows that integrate detection, triage, and response across tools like CrowdStrike, SOAR, and Slack to reduce analyst response times and improve incident handling efficiency.
- • You will develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform/Terragrunt to provision and manage security tooling and configurations, ensuring consistent, scalable, and auditable security controls across cloud and on-premises environments.
- • You will participate in incident response activities and serve in an on-call rotation for security events, providing timely analysis, containment, and remediation of potential threats while documenting lessons learned to improve future responses.
- • You will instrument and measure security operations by tracking key metrics such as Mean Time to Acknowledge (MTTA) and Mean Time to Respond (MTTR), building dashboards to visualize program effectiveness, and communicating ROI to stakeholders.
- • You will evaluate and integrate AI-augmented security tools and workflows to enhance threat detection, reduce false positives, and automate routine security tasks, staying at the forefront of emerging security technologies.
- • You will collaborate with a small, high-impact security team where ownership, initiative, and end-to-end problem-solving are valued, allowing you to shape the direction of the company’s security posture.
- • You will work within a mission-driven, remote-first organization that values authenticity, kindness, and continuous improvement, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in Ontario while maintaining strong team connections through virtual and occasional in-person engagements.

🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of experience in a Security Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar technical role
- • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent
- • Familiarity with scripting or programming languages including Python, Go, TypeScript/Node.js, or similar
- • Experience integrating and managing EDR/XDR platforms like CrowdStrike or comparable solutions
- • Comfort working in a small, fast-moving security team where you own problems from identification through resolution
