- • In this critical position, you will be a key player in safeguarding our AI-powered customer engagement platform. Your responsibilities will span across application security, infrastructure security, and compliance, ensuring that Hatch not only protects customer data with the utmost diligence but also consistently meets stringent enterprise-level security requirements. You will be empowered to make significant contributions to our security strategy and its execution, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to embed security best practices into every facet of our operations.
- • Your core duties will involve the proactive implementation and meticulous maintenance of security controls across our diverse infrastructure and sophisticated applications. This includes deploying and managing firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, access control mechanisms, and data encryption solutions. You will conduct thorough security assessments, meticulously reviewing code for potential vulnerabilities and performing penetration testing to identify and address weaknesses before they can be exploited. This hands-on approach ensures a proactive defense against emerging threats.
- • A significant part of your role will be dedicated to managing our comprehensive vulnerability scanning and remediation programs. You will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and tracking vulnerabilities, working closely with development and operations teams to ensure timely and effective resolution. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in building and enhancing our security monitoring and incident detection capabilities. This involves setting up robust logging, developing alert mechanisms, and establishing clear protocols for responding to security incidents, minimizing potential impact and downtime.
- • You will actively support our ongoing compliance efforts, particularly in relation to frameworks such as SOC 2. This includes contributing to audits, developing and refining security policies, and ensuring that our practices align with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be vital in documenting our security procedures, creating clear and concise policies, and maintaining an up-to-date security knowledge base for the organization.
- • A key aspect of this role is fostering a security-conscious culture within our engineering teams. You will be responsible for educating developers and other engineers on secure development practices, providing training, and offering guidance on how to write secure code and build resilient applications. This proactive approach to security education aims to prevent vulnerabilities from being introduced in the first place.
- • You will also be tasked with evaluating, recommending, and implementing new security tools and technologies. This requires staying abreast of the latest advancements in the cybersecurity landscape, assessing their potential benefits for Hatch, and integrating them effectively into our existing security stack to continuously improve our defenses.
- • The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of common web application vulnerabilities, such as those outlined in the OWASP Top 10, and have practical experience with security tools like Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST), and various vulnerability scanners. A solid grasp of authentication, authorization, and cryptography principles is essential, as is experience with security logging, monitoring, and incident response. We are looking for someone who can effectively balance the critical need for robust security with the fast-paced demands of engineering velocity, ensuring that security measures enhance, rather than hinder, our development process. Strong communication and documentation skills are paramount for collaborating effectively with teams and articulating complex security concepts clearly.

- • 3+ years of experience in security engineering or application security.
- • Proven experience with cloud security, with a strong preference for AWS.
