- • Security engineer, application security role at Writer Inc., focused on securing AI systems powering enterprise platforms for global brands like Mars, Marriott, Uber, and Vanguard
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting threat modeling with product teams, owning and evolving the application security program (SAST/DAST in CI/CD, security code reviews), establishing secure coding standards, designing security features for customer environments, integrating AI agents to boost security team velocity, leading penetration testing of applications and APIs, implementing controls for data pipelines and model training, and researching emerging AI/ML threats
- • Writer is a $1.9B-valued enterprise generative AI company founded in 2020 with offices in San Francisco, New York, Austin, Chicago, and London, building trustworthy AI that unites IT and business teams to enable enterprise-wide transformation
- • The role offers the opportunity to define how enterprise AI applications are secured, work at the intersection of application security, AI infrastructure, and developer enablement, and tackle novel challenges like securing AI agents and protecting training data pipelines in a hybrid London-based position reporting to the head of security engineering
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years of hands-on experience in application security engineering with a proven track record securing large-scale production systems, preferably in fast-growing startups or high-growth environments
- • Understanding of developer experience and workflows, with a focus on reducing risk while maintaining engineering velocity
- • Technical expertise in at least two programming languages (Python, Java, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript) and ability to read/review code across multiple languages, grasping both business logic and security implications
