đź“‹ Description
- • Join Apollo.io, a rapidly growing company, as a pivotal Security Operations Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our expanding infrastructure and ensuring the trust of our global customer base. This is a high-impact opportunity for a seasoned SecOps professional to significantly influence the evolution of our security posture, from pioneering detection engineering and rapid incident response to ensuring robust compliance and exploring the frontiers of AI security. You will be instrumental in shaping how Apollo operates securely as we scale, working collaboratively with engineering, IT, Sales, and Customer Success teams to proactively reduce risk and meet stringent customer expectations.
- • As a Senior Security Operations Engineer, you will be at the forefront of advancing Apollo's detection and response strategy. This involves deep collaboration with engineering and IT leadership to design, implement, and continuously refine our security monitoring, logging, and alerting systems. Your expertise will be vital in enhancing visibility across our cloud-native environments while meticulously tuning these systems to minimize false positives and reduce operational noise, ensuring our security teams can focus on genuine threats.
- • A core responsibility will be to implement and maintain adherence to critical cloud security frameworks, such as SOC 2 and other relevant industry standards. This includes developing and enforcing policies, conducting regular assessments, and working with internal teams to ensure continuous compliance. You will also be a key point of contact for handling escalations from our Sales and Customer Success teams, which involves expertly navigating complex security questionnaires from enterprise clients and supporting them through rigorous security audits. Your ability to clearly articulate our security controls and practices will be paramount in these interactions.
- • Driving automation within SecOps workflows is a key objective. You will identify opportunities to streamline and automate repetitive tasks in our investigation and response processes, leveraging scripting and tooling to significantly speed up incident analysis and remediation. This proactive approach not only enhances efficiency but also strengthens our overall security resilience.
- • You will be a thought leader in guiding the secure adoption of Artificial Intelligence across Apollo. This encompasses advising on the safe internal use of AI tools by our engineering teams and contributing to the security considerations of AI-powered product features. Your insights will be critical in navigating the unique risks and opportunities presented by AI, ensuring we harness its power responsibly.
- • This role involves participating in our on-call rotation, which we strive to keep lightweight and reasonable, ensuring a healthy work-life balance while maintaining critical security coverage. You will be empowered to make significant contributions, influencing operational security culture and practices across the organization, even without direct authority, by demonstrating best practices and fostering a security-first mindset.
- • You will be expected to possess a strong background in detection, response, and operational security, with a proven ability to build and operate modern cloud security controls across environments like AWS or GCP. Your comfort in working directly with engineers to embed operational security practices into their development workflows will be essential. Furthermore, your strong communication skills will be leveraged to clearly explain complex threats and effective mitigations to both technical and non-technical audiences. We are particularly excited about candidates who are enthusiastic about the intersection of AI and security, bringing innovative ideas for how to safely leverage AI while proactively managing its inherent risks. Ultimately, you will be motivated by achieving tangible outcomes – not just by resolving individual incidents, but by architecting and building resilient systems that reduce risk at scale and foster a culture of continuous security improvement.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 6 years of experience in security operations, incident response, or closely related fields, with at least 2 years in a staff or senior-level capacity.
- • Deep expertise in detection and response strategies within cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, or similar).
- • Strong knowledge of and experience with implementing security frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or comparable standards.
- • Proven experience in building, integrating, and automating security tooling, including SIEM, SOAR platforms, and custom scripting (e.g., Python).
- • Demonstrated ability to lead or effectively coordinate incident response efforts across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- • Track record of successfully influencing operational security culture and practices, often without direct managerial authority.
