📋 Description

• Join Altura Inc., a rapidly growing SaaS startup that has successfully secured Series A funding, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI-powered bid management.
• As a Senior AI Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing the sophisticated agentic layer that represents the next evolution of our innovative platform, designed to empower organizations in winning complex deals.
• This is a hands-on, deeply technical role where you will move beyond simply integrating existing AI models. You will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of production-grade, agentic workflows.
• These workflows will be context-aware, leveraging our proprietary data graph to create a significant technical advantage and a core competitive moat for Altura.
• You will operate within a lean, agile, and fast-moving team environment, empowered with the autonomy to experiment freely with cutting-edge AI technologies, including the latest models and development tools as soon as they become available.
• Your responsibilities will span the entire AI initiative lifecycle, from initial discovery and greenfield prototyping to rigorous model evaluation, strategic multi-model implementation, and seamless production rollout.
• You will also be deeply involved in the ongoing optimization, observability, and continuous improvement of these AI systems.
• Beyond specific product features, you will contribute to the foundational AI platform components that underpin our entire offering.
• This includes pioneering advancements in context engineering, robust agent orchestration, sophisticated evaluation frameworks, effective tone monitoring, and real-time online observability.

• You will be tasked with shipping AI solutions that are not only innovative but also demonstrably reliable in production, scalable across a diverse customer base, measurable in their business impact, and inherently cost-aware in their design.
• A key aspect of your role will be to help define and establish what constitutes excellent AI engineering practices within a dynamic, Series A-funded company operating at the forefront of AI development.
• Specifically, you will design and deliver a sophisticated agentic layer and a rich context graph, enabling deep integration with our customers' knowledge repositories to automate complex workflows.
• You will drive the architecture and delivery of production-ready LLM/GenAI systems, focusing on critical areas such as context engineering, the development of agentic workflows, comprehensive model evaluations, and the implementation of multi-model strategies.
• A significant part of your work will involve defining and implementing robust evaluation methodologies, including offline and online metrics, gold standard datasets, regression testing, human review loops, and A/B experiments to ensure the highest quality and performance.
• You will operationalize LLMOps best practices, covering deployment patterns, system observability, continuous monitoring, incident response, and meticulous performance and cost optimization, particularly concerning latency, throughput, and token expenditure.
• Building essential guardrails and security measures will be crucial, including developing defenses against prompt injection, preventing data exfiltration, implementing fine-grained permissions for tools and actions, and ensuring the secure and compliant handling of sensitive customer data.
• You will play a key role in establishing engineering standards for AI development at Altura, creating reference implementations, reusable libraries, promoting rigorous review practices, and developing comprehensive documentation to accelerate the efforts of the entire team.
• Furthermore, you will act as a mentor and technical leader, coaching other engineers, elevating the standards for system design and code quality across the organization, and aligning multiple teams around shared outcomes and ambitious timelines.
• Success in this role means delivering impactful AI-native capabilities that align perfectly with product objectives and stringent risk constraints, establishing a repeatable and reliable evaluation and release process that prevents regressions and facilitates rapid iteration, and ensuring that all shipped AI capabilities are equipped with comprehensive monitoring, robust guardrails, and demonstrably positive business impact.

🎯 Requirements

• Extensive experience in AI/ML software engineering, demonstrated through multiple successful production AI/ML launches.
• Strong foundational software engineering skills, encompassing system design, comprehensive testing strategies, ensuring reliability, conducting code reviews, and designing robust APIs.
• Proven hands-on experience with established LLM application patterns, including but not limited to context engineering, ensuring output quality, implementing embeddings and vector search, sophisticated prompt design, and generating structured outputs.
• Practical experience in building and implementing evaluation and monitoring systems for model and system quality in production environments.
• Demonstrated comfort and proficiency operating within cloud environments (specifically Azure), utilizing containers, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and working with modern observability tools.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into clear plans, articulate trade-offs, and drive tangible shipped outcomes.
