📋 Description
- • Heidi Health is at the forefront of revolutionizing healthcare by developing an AI Care Partner designed to enhance the continuity and human element of patient care. We are a dynamic and rapidly growing healthtech startup, comprised of a multidisciplinary team of doctors, engineers, designers, researchers, and creatives. Our mission is to build tools that empower clinicians, allowing them to dedicate more time to their patients. In a remarkably short period, Heidi has already made a significant impact, returning over 18 million hours to healthcare professionals and supporting an astounding 73 million patient visits across 116 countries. Currently, our AI solutions are instrumental in powering more than two million patient visits weekly worldwide. With substantial backing, including nearly $100 million in funding, we are expanding our operations in the US, UK, Canada, and Europe, forging key partnerships with leading health systems such as the NHS, Beth Israel Lahey Health, and Monash Health.
- • As a Senior AI Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our AI-driven products. Working in close collaboration with the Engineering Manager, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and scaling the sophisticated backend services that form the backbone of our innovative AI Care Partner. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a product that is not only technologically advanced but also has a profound positive impact on the healthcare industry and patient outcomes.
- • Your responsibilities will encompass a broad range of critical engineering tasks. You will be tasked with architecting and building robust backend services that are specifically designed to power our advanced LLM-based agents and sophisticated clinical automation workflows. This involves creating scalable, efficient, and reliable systems that can handle complex AI computations and real-time data processing. A key aspect of this role is the design of secure, observable, and easily extensible APIs and data models. These interfaces will be crucial for enabling seamless integration with other internal teams and future product developments, ensuring that our platform remains adaptable and maintainable.
- • Performance optimization and cost management will be central to your work. You will be expected to meticulously profile application performance, identify and address bottlenecks in critical code paths, and fine-tune database operations for maximum efficiency. Furthermore, you will be responsible for right-sizing our cloud infrastructure resources to ensure optimal performance while managing costs effectively. This requires a deep understanding of cloud-native architectures and cost-optimization strategies.
- • Ensuring the quality and reliability of our systems is paramount. You will be responsible for automating quality assurance processes by writing comprehensive unit and integration tests. Crafting effective alerts and developing detailed on-call runbooks will be essential to ensure that our systems are monitored proactively and that any issues can be resolved swiftly, guaranteeing that clinicians can trust every interaction with our AI Care Partner.
- • Collaboration will be a cornerstone of your role. You will work hand-in-hand with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to drive new capabilities from initial concept through to production deployment, with an emphasis on rapid iteration and delivery cycles measured in weeks, not quarters. This agile approach ensures that we can quickly respond to user needs and market demands.
- • We are seeking individuals who possess a mastery of software engineering fundamentals, with Python being our primary language. However, we value adaptability and expect our engineers to be proficient across various technologies as dictated by the problem at hand. Deep expertise in database technologies, including schema design, query optimization, and scaling for both relational and NoSQL stores, is essential. Cloud fluency, specifically with GCP or AWS, encompassing containers, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, security best practices, and observability tools, is a must. A proven track record of successfully shipping and operating large-scale systems with a high degree of reliability is also critical. Furthermore, we expect a commitment to rigorous testing, thorough code reviews, and meticulous documentation habits that consistently elevate our team's engineering standards. Bonus points will be awarded for hands-on experience with AI/LLM services or real-time audio/streaming pipelines, as these areas are directly relevant to our ongoing development and future innovations.
