You will translate complex pedagogical goals into elegant, scalable software that personalizes training for tens of thousands of managers worldwide.
- • Architect and evolve our core recommendation engine, leveraging large-language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and real-time learner data to deliver hyper-relevant content, nudges, and coaching paths. Your designs will balance model sophistication with production-grade reliability, ensuring millisecond-level latency and 99.9 % uptime.
- • Partner daily with data scientists, learning designers, and customer success teams to translate qualitative learner feedback into quantitative feature improvements. You will run A/B tests, cohort analyses, and causal-inference experiments that move our 96 % behavior-change metric even higher.
- • Lead cross-functional squads in bi-weekly sprints, breaking down ambitious quarterly OKRs into shippable increments. You will mentor mid-level engineers, conduct rigorous code reviews, and champion clean, well-tested Python/TypeScript that future teams can extend with confidence.
- • Build and maintain robust data pipelines that ingest behavioral telemetry, HRIS signals, and engagement metrics from Zoom, Slack, and LMS integrations. You will ensure GDPR-grade privacy, SOC 2 compliance, and real-time anomaly detection so that every insight we surface is trustworthy and secure.
- • Design intuitive APIs and SDKs that allow Fortune 500 customers to embed Hone’s AI coaching into their existing workflows—think Slack bots that suggest feedback techniques or Teams apps that auto-schedule micro-lessons after a tough 1:1.
- • Continuously optimize cloud costs and model inference efficiency, employing techniques like quantization, caching layers, and spot-instance orchestration to keep our unit economics attractive as we scale from thousands to millions of learners.
- • Champion ethical AI practices, implementing bias audits, fairness dashboards, and transparent model cards so that every recommendation we serve is explainable and equitable across diverse global workforces.
- • Contribute to our open-source culture by publishing blog posts, speaking at conferences, and releasing tools that advance the broader AI-for-learning community. Your thought leadership will reinforce Hone’s reputation as the category-defining innovator in people development.
- • Collaborate directly with the executive team to shape the three-year technical roadmap, balancing visionary bets (adaptive VR simulations, multilingual voice coaches) against pragmatic platform hardening that keeps our enterprise clients delighted and secure.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years shipping production-grade backend services in Python, Node, or Go, with deep experience in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and containerized deployment on AWS or GCP.
- • Demonstrated expertise in machine-learning engineering: feature stores, model versioning (MLflow), real-time inference at scale, and monitoring for drift, latency, and fairness.
- • Strong product intuition—you can translate ambiguous user pain points into crisp technical specs, prioritize ruthlessly, and measure success with clear KPIs.
- • Nice-to-have: prior EdTech or HR-tech domain knowledge, familiarity with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA), and contributions to open-source ML libraries.
