📋 Description

• Architect and deliver AI-powered developer tooling from the ground up. You will design scalable systems using PyTorch, TensorFlow, and other modern ML frameworks to automate code generation, intelligent debugging, and automated testing—making every engineer in our tribes faster, happier, and more creative.
• Pioneer autonomous, agentic AI that can reason, plan, and act independently. Build agents that integrate directly into our vertical SaaS platform to surface predictive analytics for animal health data, auto-triage support tickets, or generate adaptive user experiences for veterinarians in the field.
• Own the full lifecycle of AI features—from ideation and rapid prototyping to production-grade deployment on cloud-native, event-driven architectures. You will write clean, testable code in TypeScript and Go, containerize services, and ensure reliability through CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and rigorous observability.
• Identify friction across engineering workflows and eliminate it with AI. Whether it’s a natural-language DevOps assistant, an LLM-powered code reviewer, or a generative design tool for UI components, you will measure impact, iterate quickly, and evangelize adoption across tribes.
• Champion best practices for MLOps, data governance, and responsible AI. Establish experiment tracking, model versioning, and bias monitoring so that every model we ship is explainable, ethical, and maintainable.
• Mentor and upskill engineers at all levels. Run internal workshops, pair program, and create reusable libraries that lower the barrier to entry for AI across the organization.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and veterinary domain experts to translate real-world clinical pain points into AI solutions that save animal lives and delight users.
• Influence strategic roadmaps by translating research breakthroughs into tangible business value. Present findings to senior leadership and secure resources for the next wave of innovation.
• Stay on the cutting edge—evaluate new foundation models, experiment with emerging techniques like retrieval-augmented generation or multi-agent orchestration, and bring the best ideas back to the team.
• Foster a culture of psychological safety and continuous learning. Celebrate experimentation, share failures openly, and ensure every voice is heard in our hybrid Auckland office (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years shipping production-grade software, including at least 2 years designing and deploying machine-learning systems at scale.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and at least one modern ML framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow); hands-on experience with TypeScript or Go is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success building and productionizing generative AI or agentic systems—show us repos, papers, or products you’ve launched.
• Solid grasp of cloud-native architectures (Kubernetes, Docker, event-driven microservices) and MLOps best practices (CI/CD, feature stores, model monitoring).
• Excellent communication skills and a track record of mentoring engineers or leading cross-functional initiatives.
