- • Design and own the semantic layer for Fieldguide Insights, establishing canonical definitions for tables, columns, and metrics to ensure consistent, trusted data across all customer-facing reports.
- • Standardize core metric definitions across disparate data sources such as Amplitude, documenting and reconciling all variances to eliminate ambiguity in reporting.
- • Migrate production report logic into governed, tested, and portable dbt models, increasing test coverage and developing reusable macros to improve maintainability and reliability.
- • Enhance the reliability of business-critical data pipelines through proactive monitoring, alerting, and resilience engineering to handle upstream schema changes without disruption.
- • Partner with Product, Engineering, App Platform, and Infrastructure teams to define data handling requirements, onboard new environments, and triage data quality issues.
- • Contribute to the design and implementation of a Kimball-style dimensional data warehouse optimized for both traditional BI and emerging LLM/MCP-based analytics interfaces.
- • Lead the migration of existing BI reporting (Looker, Omni, Tableau) onto the new semantic layer, managing report inventory, classification, and cutover planning to ensure seamless transition.
- • Build and maintain data models that are durable and scalable, designed to evolve with the business while preserving historical integrity and analytical consistency.
- • Apply advanced SQL expertise to transform, validate, and aggregate complex audit and advisory datasets with precision and performance.
- • Write production-quality Python code to support data pipeline automation, validation, and orchestration tasks.
- • Work fluently with version control systems and CI/CD processes to ensure code quality, traceability, and deployment reliability.
- • Optimize cloud data warehouse performance and cost efficiency on BigQuery, balancing query speed, storage usage, and resource allocation.
- • Collaborate directly with customers and internal stakeholders to understand their analytical needs and ensure data outputs meet rigorous standards of correctness.
- • Maintain a strong focus on data quality, applying judgment to validate results beyond computation, ensuring all shipped numbers are defensible and auditable.
- • Operate within a regulated-domain environment where data accuracy and compliance are non-negotiable, aligning all work with audit and assurance industry standards.
- • Contribute to building an inclusive, supportive, and high-performing team culture that values humility, ownership, and mutual growth.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years in a modern data stack with advanced SQL and deep hands-on dbt expertise in modeling, testing, and project structure
- • Proven experience as an engineer with production-quality Python, version control, and CI/CD fluency
- • Expertise in dimensional modeling (Kimball, slowly changing dimensions) to build durable, scalable data architectures
- • Deep experience with BigQuery and cloud data warehousing, including cost and performance optimization
- • Strong collaborative skills working across Product, Engineering, App Platform, and Infrastructure teams
- • Based in San Francisco and energized by in-person collaboration with the team
