- • Design, build, and maintain scalable data models using dbt on Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery) to transform raw data into trusted, well-modelled datasets
- • Create and maintain dashboards and explores in Looker to enable self-serve analytics across the business
- • Translate business requirements from commercial, product, marketing, finance, and operations teams into clear data models, metrics, and visualisations
- • Define and maintain core business metrics and data definitions in partnership with stakeholders and the wider analytics team
- • Implement data quality checks, testing, and documentation within dbt to ensure accuracy and reliability of reporting
- • Optimize query performance and manage cost efficiency in BigQuery to reduce infrastructure spend while maintaining speed
- • Mentor junior analysts and promote best practices in analytics engineering, including documentation standards and data governance
- • Partner cross-functionally to align data infrastructure with business objectives and drive data-driven decision-making
- • Own the transformation layer (dbt) and semantic layer (Looker), ensuring consistency and trust in all reported metrics
- • Maintain clear, consistent definitions of key business metrics to eliminate ambiguity and reduce reporting discrepancies
- • Improve data reliability by implementing testing frameworks and monitoring for data anomalies
- • Accelerate time-to-insight for stakeholders by leveraging AI tooling to streamline analytics delivery
- • Promote adoption of Looker dashboards through training, documentation, and stakeholder engagement
- • Ensure all data models are clean, well-documented, and reusable across departments
- • Contribute to the evolution of BI best practices and documentation standards across the analytics team
🎯 Requirements
- • Previous experience in analytics engineering, BI or data analytics roles
- • Strong SQL skills (expert level, performance tuning experience preferred)
- • Experience working with modern cloud data platforms and distributed data warehouses (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake)
- • Proven experience with dbt (modelling, testing, documentation)
- • Experience building dashboards in Looker (LookML is a strong plus)
- • Solid understanding of data modelling concepts (star schema, dimensional modelling)
