📋 Description

• Lead multiple Analytics Engineering teams across key business domains, managing AE Managers and overseeing their performance, development, and team wellbeing.
• Own the mid-to-long-term Analytics Engineering roadmap across domains, identifying high-leverage technical investments and building compelling cases for them with senior business and product stakeholders.
• Shape and influence Analytics Engineering standards, tooling, architecture, and processes across the entire organisation, not just within direct teams.
• Drive a data products mindset across all teams under your leadership, ensuring clear ownership, SLAs, observability, and data contracts are embedded as default practices.
• Coach and develop Analytics Engineering Managers, supporting them through performance challenges, motivation, and team health issues while fostering a culture of technical rigour and continuous improvement.
• Partner closely with Recruiting to attract, hire, and onboard diverse, high-calibre Analytics Engineering talent across multiple business domains.
• Maintain hands-on technical credibility by drawing on strong SQL foundations and staying engaged with modern Analytics Engineering stack components including cloud data warehousing, transformation tooling, data modelling, and data quality practices.
• Contribute to strategic decisions on federated data architecture, semantic layers, and metrics tooling that enable self-serve analytics and AI-first data products.
• Align Analytics Engineering priorities with broader business objectives, ensuring technical work directly supports decision-making across Deliveroo’s three-sided marketplace.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Data Engineering, and product teams to ensure clear R&R boundaries, cross-functional alignment, and effective collaboration across analytics functions.
• Scale the Analytics Engineering function across the UK and India, managing a team of over 70 Analytics Engineers embedded within product and business units.
• Evolve the discipline from traditional data pipeline building toward AI-enabled, semantic-layer-driven data products that empower self-serve users at scale.
• Ensure all teams operate with measurable business impact, translating technical outputs into clear outcomes for executive reporting, strategic planning, and experimentation.
• Support the integration of Analytics Engineering practices across Deliveroo’s global structure, including collaboration with DoorDash and Wolt teams where relevant.
• Promote a culture of inclusion, high standards, collaboration, and continuous learning aligned with Deliveroo’s values as a builder-focused organisation.

🎯 Requirements

• Significant experience in an Analytics Engineering, BI Engineering, or Data Engineering leadership role with hands-on SQL foundations
• Proven experience managing managers as well as individual contributors, with a track record of developing people managers
• Demonstrated ability to own a multi-quarter technical roadmap and manage teams across multiple business domains in a matrixed environment with measurable business impact
• Strong technical grounding across the modern Analytics Engineering stack (cloud data warehousing, transformation tooling, data modelling, data quality practices)
• Confident ability to engage and influence at Director/VP level, aligning analytics investment with business priorities
• Experience contributing to analytics organisational design including team structure, R&R boundaries, and alignment between AE, Data Science, and Data Engineering
