📋 Description

• As a Senior Android Engineer at Airwallex, you will be a key contributor to the Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Account team, playing a critical role in advancing identity solutions and fortifying account infrastructure for a global payments platform used by over 200,000 businesses worldwide. Your work will directly impact the security, scalability, and reliability of Airwallex’s platform, enabling seamless payment experiences for merchants across international and local payment methods.
• You will be responsible for the design and implementation of enterprise-grade Android applications and libraries, working closely with product managers, designers, and engineering stakeholders to define requirements, develop technical specifications, and own full-cycle product development from concept to deployment. This includes architecting and building POS applications and SDKs that empower merchants globally to accept payments through diverse payment methods, ensuring solutions are secure, reliable, sustainable, and developer-friendly.
• You will collaborate with architects to refactor and optimize code for maintainability, extensibility, and reusability, promoting robust engineering practices such as high test coverage, automated CI/CD pipelines, and adherence to modern Android development principles. Your contributions will support Airwallex’s rapid growth and evolving roadmap, with opportunities to influence broader engineering initiatives beyond core mobile development.
• The Identity and Org team at Airwallex operates within a culture of founder-like energy, where builders are empowered to move fast with good judgment, solve problems from first principles, and leverage AI to work smarter. You’ll join a global team of over 2,000 innovators across 26 offices, working on high-visibility, complex challenges that shape the future of global banking and financial infrastructure.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in modern Android technologies including Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, MVVM, Coroutines, and Flow, while gaining hands-on experience in building scalable SDKs and enterprise mobile solutions for the fintech industry. You’ll have the opportunity to grow as a technical leader, contribute to open-source-like internal libraries, and shape best practices across mobile engineering at a company valued at US$8 billion with backing from top-tier investors like Visa, Mastercard, Sequoia, and Salesforce Ventures.

🎯 Requirements

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 5+ years of professional Android development experience building production applications
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, including ability to read and understand Java codebases, and deep knowledge of Android architecture components, Jetpack libraries, and modern approaches (Compose, MVVM, Coroutines, Flow)
• Proven ability to promote robust, maintainable code with high test coverage and experience maintaining automation pipelines for CI/CD
